i don't actually believe that's true, of course (i'm pretty sure Beric doesn't worship jesus) but it was a funny coincidence

brienne is the only paladin eligible fighter in this show

valet doberman (Jon not Jon), Thursday, 2 May 2019 15:17 (seven years ago)

I think most of the frustration with the episode stems from how useless Jon and Dany were and I also felt let-down, but to be honest avoiding that kind of fan service is the most old-school game of thrones thing they've done in a few seasons so in hindsight I'm grateful.

dan selzer, Thursday, 2 May 2019 15:18 (seven years ago)

xp

i dunno, brienne is officially a knight now, and that seems more fitting - her loyalty is to people, not to gods

i just mean she's the only one who doesn't do the things you mustn't do if you want to be a paladin

valet doberman (Jon not Jon), Thursday, 2 May 2019 15:22 (seven years ago)

oh, i gotcha. yeah, that seems to be true (although "can paladins drink?" is a fun google search)

Would be pretty interesting if Bran refused to use his powers to aid Dany in the battle against Cersei—refusing to aid anyone in their attempt to ascend to the throne.

Could have the potential of extending the Dany/Stark conflict to all the Stark kids.

Does Dany try to burn Bran for not bending the (proverbial) knee? If so, what does Jon do?

“When I watched it I was struck by how almost religious it was,” Richard Dormer told HuffPost of his character’s final moment.

He said it was visually influenced by Christ’s death on the cross. Beric is stabbed multiple times before making his way to safety, only to die, for the seventh time, in Arya’s arms ― “a spiritual number,” Dormer noted.

Hey, I'm a little behind on this. I started watching s8e1 last night and turned it off about halfway through because it seemed like the same clunky dialogue and lack of character as plagued s7. Should I just could cut my losses and cancel my HBO subscription now?

Sure why not

Skip to the big fight scene. Less talk, more action

Rewatched last week’s episode again last night, and it still rules despite all the little problems

I’m kind of enjoying the nerd meltdown over the destruction of their pet theories. I think people have no idea how storytelling works other than there are supposed to be a bunch of unlikely reveals

We were never Breeting Borting (President Keyes), Sunday, 5 May 2019 14:53 (seven years ago)

links please? I too would like to make some popcorn and fill a chalice with nerd tears.

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Sunday, 5 May 2019 14:56 (seven years ago)

There are all sorts of unlikely reveals in the source material, but that’s the type of thing that can work in books but doesn’t translate well to TV

i think ur a controp (voodoo chili), Sunday, 5 May 2019 14:56 (seven years ago)

it translated fine to tv until they ran out of books!

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Sunday, 5 May 2019 14:57 (seven years ago)

followers of the down god: what is nonexistent may never be translated

there seem to be a few desperately clinging to the Bran = NK theory xps

groovypanda, Sunday, 5 May 2019 15:58 (seven years ago)

Next three episodes will just be them rebuilding the magic snow wall.

There were a lot of things in the books that the show didn’t even try (stoneheart, arstan is really barristan, etc)

i think ur a controp (voodoo chili), Sunday, 5 May 2019 16:30 (seven years ago)

Wonder if we'll actually see Winds of Winter sometime in the next 12 months.

I can't actually remember where the last book finished and where the show took over

groovypanda, Sunday, 5 May 2019 20:17 (seven years ago)

Jon stabbed to death, Dany escapes the attempt on her life at the fighting pits & lands in the great grass sea confronted by the Dothraki Horde

Me too. Reddit is a vale of butthurt tears over ep3.

Not even gonna try to defend this week’s episode.

unashamed and trash (Unctious), Monday, 6 May 2019 03:29 (seven years ago)

A high stakes fleet of ships traveling without scouts, and with two dragons who don’t spot a hostile fleet of ships in the area.

Remember when Jaime’s character development had more or less reached its final form and then they just decided he never actually developed?

I'm letting myself be spoiled before watching this cos it sounds like its just heading towards a complete train derailment at this point lol.

That was a smelly casserole

Gwen Christie gave a good performance at least!

flamboyant goon tie included, Monday, 6 May 2019 04:44 (seven years ago)

Lots of talky talk, virtually none of it interesting or timely; zombie apocalypse is gonna be this season’s high point for sure.

i believe that (s)he is sincere (forksclovetofu), Monday, 6 May 2019 04:47 (seven years ago)

I feel like they did Brienne dirty this ep? she deserved a little better in the writing than what ultimately boiled down to a teen cliché

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 6 May 2019 04:59 (seven years ago)

but Gwen Christie was great nonetheless
love her

I figured it was obvious that he was being vague and what he meant was that he was going back down there to kill Cersei...

crossbow technology is extremely scalable

i got bag sauce in my bag (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 6 May 2019 05:44 (seven years ago)

make a ~0.5*kings_landing_size crossbow and destroy kings landing imo

i got bag sauce in my bag (Sufjan Grafton), Monday, 6 May 2019 05:45 (seven years ago)

*looks over the blueprints carefully*

yes, that will take 400 pieces of wood and 12 hours

these are not all of the possible side effects (Karl Malone), Monday, 6 May 2019 05:47 (seven years ago)

so second to last episode is now a big dumb (physical) battle for kings landing, and then a final episode to say goodbye to everyone, i guess

these are not all of the possible side effects (Karl Malone), Monday, 6 May 2019 05:49 (seven years ago)

Final scene will be king/queen butt wiggling down into that throne to gasp chorus imo
