I think most of the frustration with the episode stems from how useless Jon and Dany were and I also felt let-down, but to be honest avoiding that kind of fan service is the most old-school game of thrones thing they've done in a few seasons so in hindsight I'm grateful.

i dunno, brienne is officially a knight now, and that seems more fitting - her loyalty is to people, not to gods

Would be pretty interesting if Bran refused to use his powers to aid Dany in the battle against Cersei—refusing to aid anyone in their attempt to ascend to the throne.

Could have the potential of extending the Dany/Stark conflict to all the Stark kids.

Does Dany try to burn Bran for not bending the (proverbial) knee? If so, what does Jon do?

Hey, I'm a little behind on this. I started watching s8e1 last night and turned it off about halfway through because it seemed like the same clunky dialogue and lack of character as plagued s7. Should I just could cut my losses and cancel my HBO subscription now?

There are all sorts of unlikely reveals in the source material, but that’s the type of thing that can work in books but doesn’t translate well to TV

There were a lot of things in the books that the show didn’t even try (stoneheart, arstan is really barristan, etc)

Wonder if we'll actually see Winds of Winter sometime in the next 12 months.

make a ~0.5*kings_landing_size crossbow and destroy kings landing imo

so second to last episode is now a big dumb (physical) battle for kings landing, and then a final episode to say goodbye to everyone, i guess

Final scene will be king/queen butt wiggling down into that throne to gasp chorus imo
