I’ve been waiting for more than a decade for this movie, and I didn’t believe Marvel could meet my sky-high expectations. With a few caveats, I’m so, so happy to be proven wrong. Endgame was basically everything I ever wanted in a grand, epic conclusion to the saga the studio has been building for so long. It was immensely gratifying, as a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fan, to sit there as everything played out on the screen. Every five minutes, there would be a moment or a scene where I would go, “oh wow, they brought them back!” or “hey, I remember that!”

this style is frustrating to an old like me, because i read it as a trope that comes out of board/net culture around the 00s. it's not a new style of social or political philosophy, it's more like an expansion that thrives in these communication channels. i got triggered about it listening to some other middlebrow podcast shit lately- they were talking about incel-board-utterly-malignant-horseshit, and also what i can only term other "disorder board culture" and it did just infuriate the fuck out of me. i don't know whether this style (not this post in particular) is a desperate coping mech, or postured self-aggrandizement, or just entitled lameness. don't get caught up in this please. we're all we got.

i feel like wearing a shirt or something saying "yeah _nothing is changing, and it may not, and it's discouraging as fuck, i feel that, but the world isn't made for me or for you, stfu htfu and stop. fucking. bleating. the world will change when it changes, or we're lucky enough to change it right."

This thread would justify its own existence if all the wailing "WHYYYYYYY???!?!?" posts were confined here, but they usually wind up slopping over into other politics threads as well.

come over to the dark side ultros, the side that isn't afraid to slag off all ambient ever ;)

imago, Friday, 17 May 2019 10:31 (seven years ago)

The dark side is the subconscious: you like ambient music and don't know it yet.

pomenitul, Friday, 17 May 2019 10:33 (seven years ago)

tbf the music that I can listen to that I think of as ambient, and there's not much of it, tends to be active enough to hold my attention, so the chances are i'm doing it wrong and should keep well away in any case lol

Beck's Sexx Laws gives me the fear so much that even seeing the cover of Midnite Vultures has made me feel ill and sad. I really need to stay out of that thread.

Is there a thread for that? Songs that almost give you panic attacks for no reason you can fathom? Or is this just me? The other ones that do it are Music Sounds Better With You and Northern Lites by SFA.
