some economist at harvard policy school tweeted his ranked list of candidates and had Liz at number 1 and Bernie at 8 (lowest), when i said ‘your #8 is most similar to your #1 on policy, thought that would be a more salient dimension to you’ he replied ‘I find Warren more thoughtful about most policy issues, agree with her more on the balance between regulation and free markets, and think her record of accomplishments is more compelling (CFPB, for example). Also, less cagey about tax returns.’

flopson, Wednesday, 24 April 2019 20:43 (seven years ago)

Liz is my #1 and Bernie is my #8 too. A lot of it is about demeanor, disposition, and intelligence.

Mordy, Wednesday, 24 April 2019 20:46 (seven years ago)

they’re my 1 and 2, i switch day to day

flopson, Wednesday, 24 April 2019 20:53 (seven years ago)

i do think he has a great chance of winning the general

flopson, Wednesday, 24 April 2019 20:53 (seven years ago)

it’s interesting and valid for non policy dimensions to matter, just funny when even ppl who are purportedly all about policy (Klein, a prof in a policy school) put effectively zero weight on it.

flopson, Wednesday, 24 April 2019 20:56 (seven years ago)

Was the tax returns jab from before he released them? Seems odd otherwise

of course

I love the Red Scare podcast and the ladies who make it. My primary motivation to go to NYC next time is finally being on this show. It's hilarious, insightful, independent-minded, and scornful of those who deserve it https://t.co/mOjrMMGYcg

their collective fascination with Marianne Williamson is hilarious but also sort of adorable

Simon H., Tuesday, 30 April 2019 20:29 (seven years ago)

i doubt ill ever go to a live podcast event but if i were in glasgow in june i might be tempted to catch chapo on their uk tour just because it seems incongruous

findom haddie (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 1 May 2019 19:21 (seven years ago)

I'd never pay to see chapo but I'd def see Street Fight, who've said they're going to come through at some point

Simon H., Wednesday, 1 May 2019 19:23 (seven years ago)

i mean i don't even listen to the podcast anymore so maybe i wouldn't i guess lol

Marianne is going to be appearing at a store near me that sells healing crystals

Marianne just qualified for the debates, which I am choosing to attribute to the Chapo Bump.

They should not keep putting out live episodes if they want people to keep buying tickets to their shows.

saw the title, was somewhat skeptical, and after listening to about 30 seconds: yup, that's Alan

not safe for listening on the way to work. he almost put me into an induced hypnotic sleep state by calmly droning on about his definition of magic

not a surprising get considering Will "edited" his recent tome but still neat

decades of heroic weed consumption, magickal workings and thinking more deeply about the town of northampton that anyone ever has or ever will again have given him eldritch powers which may or may not stand up to the psychich assault of felix biederman's stream of consciousness about fortnite, uncles and knausgaard

Downloaded a couple of eps of producer Chris's music podcast (And Introducing), it's pretty good (ie more listenable than Chapo has been lately). I'm halfway through the one about Meet Me In The Bathroom, it's ridiculously long (2.5 hours) and it's endearing to see someone's take on it a few years younger than me/the average ILXor. They still think all the people involved in the early '00s rock scene were kind of cool, it's adorable.

Greta Van Show Feets BB (milo z), Tuesday, 11 June 2019 07:54 (seven years ago)

I was going to ask who from the show picked The Fall to end the latest episode, but figured it was Chris.

naus, Tuesday, 11 June 2019 14:52 (seven years ago)

i feel like everyone involved in chapo has a tragic taste in music

findom haddie (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 11 June 2019 15:50 (seven years ago)

they used to pick pretty good music to end the episodes until they presumably got too big and didn't want to draw attention. distinctly remember an ep ending with "who makes the nazis".

oiocha, Tuesday, 11 June 2019 18:07 (seven years ago)

xp to milo

is there a good representative episode of that podcast (And Introducing) that's a good start?

the one about the book, which I've read and have spent all my own commentary on, is simultaneously intriguing because they're younger and making me holler about how they seem to have missed a bunch of experiences of seeing shows in houses, 90s music scenes, whatever

mh, Tuesday, 11 June 2019 23:05 (seven years ago)

And Introducing is fantastic! My introduction was the one Felix guested on about Kanye's tweets. I thought that one was pretty fun, but it's kind of atypical for the show. I honestly think the show's first episode is still one of the best.

OneSecondBefore, Wednesday, 12 June 2019 01:05 (seven years ago)

The one about The Hacienda is pretty good too.

OneSecondBefore, Wednesday, 12 June 2019 01:06 (seven years ago)

I've only listened to that one and part of the Felix Soundcloud rap episode - I think the book one is pretty representative, non-cynical 30-year olds' takes on music

Greta Van Show Feets BB (milo z), Wednesday, 12 June 2019 01:29 (seven years ago)

the greatest Chapo running gag is that their producers/engineers have much better radio voices than anyone actually on the show

Greta Van Show Feets BB (milo z), Wednesday, 12 June 2019 01:30 (seven years ago)

ilx is pretty much all rockist now isn't it

viborg, Wednesday, 12 June 2019 04:21 (seven years ago)

Should I listen to the hacienda episode though? I do tend to avoid podcasts and only experience them vicariously in forums such as this.
