Ideas for ILX

I've mentioned this before, but I have that exact problem on some devices, but not on others. Don't know what causes it, but it's been a problem for years.

I got frustratingly close to figuring it out once; it seems to be related to Android cookie handling iirc?

Works on chrome on my phone and my home computer. Doesn't work on Flagging or any browser on my work computer.

Mostly for fun:

A method to display a list of all the display names associated with a login name.

Place the total number of posts made under each unique login name on their respective profile pages.

A method to display the login names of all users who have been permabanned. This would assist in ferreting unwanted users out when they return under new names.

How about a way to put episode divs into TV show threads. Like look up the IMDB entry and grab the first air dates of every episode, and then put divs in the threads corresponding to those dates. That would be fun for people who are watching a series and would like to see the previous ILX discussion without spoiling the next episode. Seems like a good summer intern project :P

You’d have to have a way for posters to tag threads and get the ILX MCP to see those tags. You’d also need a way to pull the dates out of the IMDB pages (though maybe IMDB is actually a DB?) and potentially store them locally? Or maybe it would all be better as a browser plugin?

US/UK sometimes have different dates. Tbh if people just marked their posts "S01 E6" or something that'd work too.

Switch to caek.css if you can bear the ultra-wide images and crave Times New Roman

Georgia is a better web font.

it's how I've been looking at ilx since forever. think of it as tracer.css

i checked to see if maybe i had only recently acquired georgia as a font, maybe in a microsoft office update, but it seems it's been sitting around, available to be used, on my computer for over a year. so i assume the stylesheet has changed?

Yes, it has changed -- I set it to Georgia because it had no font set at all, and some browsers are showing madness as a default font. Personally I prefer it massively over TNR (especially on shitty displays).

can you change the priority with which the fonts are selected, or fork your modification into a different stylesheet? i think old should stay old!!

yeah J i hated the switch to Georgia too, so now I’m using caek instead of old and it’s close enough

my ilx experience has improved markedly since i made wingdings my default font

Priority won't matter because virtually everything has both TNR and Georgia. I'm looking into a font preference though.

OK, that's available now on the style setting page. It's early days, but I think it at least does what you want -- choose old.css and set the dropdown to "Times New Roman".

i think it must have tweaked before i changed it, somehow, because i was once again getting TNR/old.css after you changed it, but when i went to site preferences and left the dropdown on default, confirming that took me back to the default for old.css, where georgia comes first. (naturally i just re-set the dropdown.)
