omar little, Saturday, 13 April 2019 23:04 (seven years ago)

Excuse me, I have to go pitch a Beasties-scored Lobot movie to Disney real quick.

I wonder if Force Ghost Luke will finally get those power converters he was supposed to pick up forever ago.

Hangover Ape (Old Lunch), Sunday, 14 April 2019 22:44 (seven years ago)

Toshi Station has his picture behind the counter lest any of their clerks ever gets suckered into ordering shit that some fershlugginer Skywalker won't ever wind up paying for.

Hangover Ape (Old Lunch), Sunday, 14 April 2019 22:47 (seven years ago)

I wasn't sure I was spelling Toshi Station correctly but I looked it up and my spelling was 100% correct. Whew!

Hangover Ape (Old Lunch), Sunday, 14 April 2019 23:46 (seven years ago)

change thread title to Egg Raid On Lobot imo

Since I didn't go to Star Wars Celebration this year for the first time since 2012, I've been at home this weekend watching all the livestreams and stuff. Not a lot was revealed during the Episode IX panel aside from the title, some stills (new costumes, Naomi Ackie's new character, Rose and Rey talking in what appears to be a Resistance base, etc.). But yeah, I was watching when the Ian McDiarmid thing happened, and the room went pretty insane.

Also watched the livestreams for the upcoming new "The Mandalorian" show, which actually looks pretty good. The sizzle reel and trailer that were shown were blacked out on the stream, but they've leaked to Reddit and some other places. (Recap and photos at https://www.starwars.com/news/swcc-2019-9-things-we-learned-from-the-mandalorian-panel) They're using a lot of practical and in-camera effects and models, and the actors are doing a lot of their own stunts.

With the return of the Emperor, can Luuke Skywalker be far behind?

Hangover Ape (Old Lunch), Monday, 15 April 2019 13:08 (seven years ago)

well they have to establish Jorus C'baoth first

and we'll need to know about his teenage years

Number None, Monday, 15 April 2019 13:11 (seven years ago)

not related to the new movie, but got a bit of a scare when I went to look up Boushh on Wookiepedia the other day and was met with a distressingly short article. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Boushh

Fortunately, I realized that they had divided each page into Canon and Legends tabs: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Boushh/Legends

"Legends" is obviously where the ridiculousness lives.

☮ (peace, man), Monday, 15 April 2019 13:11 (seven years ago)

Episode IX trailer would have been better with Billy Dee's laugh in place of Palpatine's

jmm, Monday, 15 April 2019 13:15 (seven years ago)

Only the Legends are real imo.

Hangover Ape (Old Lunch), Monday, 15 April 2019 13:16 (seven years ago)

agreed

If JJ cannot be persuaded, perhaps we will have to enlist the services of JJJJ.

I'm watching the Episode I 20th anniversary panel while I'm at work, and based on that and an interview with Ahmed Best on the show floor yesterday (this is his first appearance at a convention), Lucas was prescient about one thing - the kids who grew up with Jar Jar love him. Who knew.

Plinka Trinka Banga Tink (Eliza D.), Monday, 15 April 2019 17:33 (seven years ago)

yeah, kids definitely like all kinds of stupid crap

Number None, Monday, 15 April 2019 18:15 (seven years ago)

Well, the kids who grew up with the Ewoks (such as me) love them, whereas AFAIK a lot of people who saw RotJ as teens or adults hate them. So is it surprising if the same happened with Jar Jar? Or with any cutesy sidekick in a family-friendly franchise, really?

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 April 2019 08:23 (seven years ago)

But the Ewoks were cute. And competant!

☮ (peace, man), Tuesday, 16 April 2019 08:25 (seven years ago)

Ewoks weren't stepping in dogshit and tripping over their own body parts. They were expert hunters and warriors.

☮ (peace, man), Tuesday, 16 April 2019 08:26 (seven years ago)

people who hate the ewoks are just displacing their guilt over america's instigation of innumerable wars of imperialist aggression

this is canon

arli$$ and bible black (bizarro gazzara), Tuesday, 16 April 2019 08:59 (seven years ago)

The saddest part in any Star War is when an Ewok tries to wake up his mate who's been killed by a laser.

chap, Tuesday, 16 April 2019 11:40 (seven years ago)

This is true, yeah.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 16 April 2019 11:53 (seven years ago)

star war is hell

xxp: definitely.

I would've gone with 'Jedi Rocks' as the saddest moment but I guess I can see where y'all are coming from.
