I image-googled this to see who the one on the left was (it is Charles Moore of the Torygraph/Spectator/Thatcher biography) and Google's suggested caption was "senior citizens"

In as much as a big vote for pro or anti EU parties in the euros will be the next pivot point.

Don’t follow this at all. It will be played by all sorts as a ref by proxy, and turnout will be corresponding. There are too many people too pissed off for it to be local election-scale.

Less than 50 percent, easy

The official thing the election is about (who gets to be your mep) is likely a moot point.

And the thing it’s supposedly a proxy referendum on, well, the actual referendum doesn’t appear to have been binding so it’s not clear why this one would be.

Very difficult to argue with anyone who says voting in these elections is pointless.

The over/under should be whether we’ll even beat the “normal” euro election turnout, ie not a lot per cent.

Don’t get me wrong, the campaign will be febrile and vile.

The euro turnout in 2009/2014 was 35% btw
