makes sense, seems to me that all their whingeing about the backstop is meant chiefly to fuck with the EU and their desire not to renegotiate the withdrawal agreement.

The backstop will lead directly to customs union and a lot of something something alignment, so I get why they don't like it, but it's impossible to combine hard brexit with the Good Friday deal.
