I am tired or Michelle telling Asian queens that they lack personality, Plastique is so so so good

yeah and there's a very defined idea of what "personality" means in the context of drag race i.e. complete over the topness. or for instance that "personality" includes a certain base level of (often sometimes kind of obscure!) pop culture knowledge which can be an inherent disadvantage for the non-american or non-american born queens.

somehow the show remains great even tho i feel like you can spot which queens have really had their idea of drag "personality" shaped by drag race ahem yvie oddly (who is very good). almost in spite of itself it feels like a lot of the time. but this season has been pretty great.

Yeah I agree, this is one of the strongest seasons I've seen. I wasn't at all excited by the roll-out but I was WRONG these queens are terrific.

Not in the same boat. And I blame the extra half hour. I wouldn’t have wanted that even in season 5 tbh.

Can we talk about Nina? I love that she's doing well, especially since camp queens haven't been doing well for several seasons now.

You could see the double save coming from a mile away, not just because the show telegraphed it by putting two ostensible fan favorites in the bottom, but because that was the blast radius, to torture a metaphor.

IMO this was the weakest top 3 for a Snatch Game. I thought Plastique would make it for the shade she and Silky were throwing at each other.

I was worried Plastique would choke but she was fine! Silky was so so funny.

I am frustrated for Yvie. She didn't actually call Silky "untalented", and what she did say was in anger after Silky made that weirdly ableist comment that everybody is just OK with? Anyway. Brook Lynn is a superstar and I'm blown away and I like that she sits through the Untuckeds sipping her drink with her eyebrows raised and not getting involved

to me yvie's beefs with both vanjie and silky stem from remarks that were basically just like "im giving an unserious answer to the reality show gambit of stirring drama by asking who should go home" yet lo and behold the drama was stirred!

as far as yvie goes there's this specific thing in reality shows where the person is like "i'm sorry but i'm just telling it like it is!" which usually is just code for "i'm being a rude asshole". that of course is always one's prerogative but you can't really go thru life that way

yeah i think i would have flipped like vanjie too if i had to go through days of yvie’s “observational advice”

for all Brooke Lynn seems to be winning lots of challenges and doing very well I continually forget that she is even there.

If you ever needed proof that this show is beholden to its own history its the fact they persist with Snatch Game every season despite the fact it hasn't provided any genuine entertainment for a good few years now

this week's challenge seemed designed for Nina West, and that group's act showed again that the queens themselves are able to come up with scripts better than the ones provided by the production team for the acting challenges. I also thought Shuga did much better in the lipsynch and really shouldn't have been up for elimination anyway.

I didn’t even have big problems with shuga’s runway looks other than the reveals should’ve crescendoed instead of just being one B+ look after another.

This week def should’ve been Vangie vs. Silky, but they clearly aren’t ready to send Vangie home, tho her fan favorite status has certainly attained some tarnish from the “failing to live up to expectation” edit.

Brooke Lynn seems like she was made in a lab, the product of years of research into "how to win at Drag Race". I find her inspiring like I find an athlete inspiring, i.e. I really like her and want her to win. I like her even more after watching Untucked, sipping her drink with raised eyebrows and staying out of the drama entirely

i thought Vanjie’s lipsync was great.

Akeria’s kaf-pants made me lol.

i know they want to keep Silky around but jeez, at least Vanjie & Shuga can hold a look together with more than Silky’s wing & a prayer. her janky hip pads in the main challenge was like O_o.

and the way Silky stared down the judges when they told her she was safe....your time is coming

I get why the judges like Silky more than Vanjie, but I don't think it's fair of them to have a go at Vanjie for not showing any range when Silky doesn't either.

I really enjoyed Nina and Shuga and Brooke Lynn's show. I would watch them do a Tommy Cooper-style magic show.

I also laughed at Ross's critique of the various kaftans.

so they didn't judge this as a team challenge simply cuz they wanted to send shuga home right?

neither her nor vanjie are going to win so i don't really think it's here or there either way... you could understand why they'd rather keep vanjie around

shuga's main role in the season seemed to be saying stuff in confessionals like "we walked into the room and there was a magician in there honey"

silky is extremely endearing and personally speaking i find it endearing that she seems insistent on sabotaging her success by being lazy

er... silky is extremely funny

i foundher v enjoyable early on but her pettiness is v unappealing to me

this whole season feels the most lackluster, like 10 episodes in and I still feel like I'm not really connecting with any of these queens, I barely even have a sense of who Shuga is
however that magic challenge was prob the most enjoyable challenge I've seen in the past several seasons

Vanjie made me cry with her lipsync. God that was beautiful. I still don't love this season but the lipsyncs have been epic.

Really really hoping that Nina can win this, but am afraid that they're going to give it to Brooke Lynn instead.
