lol as if pushing for the GND ISN'T about helping people in the Bronx, where they have the highest child asthma rates in the country and ANY improvement to the environment, emissions controls, improved/safe/affordable housing, access to health services, etc would immediately and directly help them.

Most of "asks" in the article are things the people can very well do themselves. They just want the Ocasio-Cortez touch thinking it will be made easier.

I hate how district 14 is divided up. It's completely undoable for public transportation.

To sigh about legislators and presidents failing to live up to the expectations of their voters is a worn, often effective GOP tactic because "Morning" Joe types repeat it.

i would view with skepticism any article in the NYC tabloids that finds a handful of locals dissatisfied with any person, policy or program - - - - i mean it is really not hard to find someone dissatisfied with something, it's inherently anecdotal and better for building hit pieces and retweetable "gotcha" memes than for understanding the politics of a district.

This story feels like cranky bullshit because a) it's the New York Post, and b) there was a story recently that because Ocasio-Cortez doesn't have to spend time calling rich assholes for cash, she's able to spend that much more time responding to her constituents.

a few days ago I listened to that town hall AOC did with Chris Hayes and when she said the Republicans passed a constitutional amendment to stop FDR from being reelected I was like, "I hope nobody heard that."

the amendment that capped presidents at two terms was proposed while FDR was in his second term but not passed until after he died. so it didn't stop him. but that was the intention.

dude the Republicans were in the minority in 1944. They passed the amendment in 1947 after winning majorities in house and senate.

yes, GOP regained Congress for the first time since the Hoover years. Truman was exempt from the amendment.

She misspoke. I have no doubt that she knows when FDR died and when the amendment was passed, just like I know 100% that Barack Obama doesn't think there really is 54 states.

But like Neil Armstrong forgetting the difference between "man" and "mankind," she misspoke. It's dumb of the right-wingers to run off with it, but let's not pretend that what she literally said was fact.
