Bill Griffith was my introduction to the greatness of Nancy when I was a kid

HAHAHAHAA omg that is so so good

Not counting that one though, I feel New Nancy has just fallen into a pattern of winky 4th-wall-breaking meta-commentary which is really cute SOMETIMES but I wish there was a little more there

vision joanna newsom (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 2 April 2019 21:09 (seven years ago)

the way I judge newspaper comics is if there's one good one in a week then that's a pretty good week

frogbs, Tuesday, 2 April 2019 21:14 (seven years ago)

I like it! When it’s not being meta or channelling Bushmiller, I get a strong Peanuts vibe. It’s like Peanuts with Lucy as the hero instead of CB.

Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 2 April 2019 21:16 (seven years ago)

this one made me laugh

That popularity is fueling other “Nancy” projects. Two books are due out in the fall, a board game is in the works, and the syndicate says it is finalizing a deal with a major streaming service for animated entertainment.

Wow, they're going all in!

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 03:00 (seven years ago)

Ugh that’s not a great sign imo.

i believe that (s)he is sincere (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 03:02 (seven years ago)

Seems like overkill, but I'm curious to see where it leads.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 03:19 (seven years ago)

what's fueling other projects is the fact that United Features owns the IP and is going to wring every penny out of it they can.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 03:41 (seven years ago)

Nancy The Flamethrower! The kids love this one.

Lil' Brexit (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 08:22 (seven years ago)

Sorry but it's impossible to get angry over _NANCY_ getting an all out multi-platform brand expansion. That's just deliciously funny.

abcfsk, Wednesday, 10 April 2019 09:09 (seven years ago)

Good for OJ, though

Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 10 April 2019 10:01 (seven years ago)

last week's strips were all pretty damn funny

i get where the schulz comparisons are coming from, a lot of the non-meta nancy is dealing with the ridiculous things we do, and it's expressed through children on top of that

like schulz nancy's behavior is genuinely childlike most of the time, but her selfishness, laziness, and petty narcissism is something that's easy to relate to as an adult

it's actually kind of interesting how relatable a character nancy is for being a narcissist

After early enjoyment I'm kind of hating the more obnoxious personality Jaimes has given Nancy, so today was a welcome lol.

i gotta say, it's rare that anyone invokes Harold Foster these days so kudos
