he dropped the fact that he was a restaurateur in the episode with the jones sisters and i was thinking "how bad is antoni's resto?"

omg he was so infuriating in that episode. yeah the restauranteur line, plus the way he kept badgering them to give up their family's secret recipe. I'm pretty sure no one is queueing for antoni's food.

that said, this was probably the best season of QE so far. so much kindness and understanding and acceptance for people who mostly just needed to be seen and given permission to be the best version of themselves.

idk far be it from me to be a captain save-an-antoni but like, in the episodes where he teaches people who never cook to make something VERY simple (like, guacamole level–simple or whatever), i think there's a benefit to that, because even a little bit of work like that in the kitchen is the same level of self-care as moisturizing or a french tuck. it's not even about it being good (the tuck or the meal), it's about including routines and rituals in your life that remind you to do a little more than just continue living, and perhaps more importantly, remind you of that time when 5 people made you feel seen and loved.

that guacamole HAS GREEK YOGHURT IN IT tho

I found Antoni quite adorable in earlier series' but he's really playing up to it now with the shy-eyerolls etc. I still like him though.

Loved the part in that show when Shortie was getting her teeth fixed and she reached out for JVN's hand.

kinda needed a dentistry trigger warning, i had a hard time watching the actual dentist moments

but her new smile made me cry 😭

yeah i loved that she got her new teeth, absolutely did not need to see any procedure (i could feel it coming and closed my eyes/squeezed my ears shut because i can't tolerate the sound or the sight of dental work) happy for her though!!

I'm cool with dentists but that moment wrecked me, as I'm also a habitual mouth-hider and dream of having my teeth fixed.

yeah i had discolored front teeth for years & NEVER smiled with my teeth showing. last year i got them fixed. it had always seemed like a dumb thing to worry about, i didnt realize what a great feeling it would be seeing my new teeth for the first time: def helped my confidence! i still sometimes have to remind myself not to cover my teeth now

nothing more enraging than saying “i dont like brussels sprouts” & being “told you havent had them the right way”

but even more enraging that THIS “brussels hater” tries them with lemon juice & is like “omg wow”.

He made a sprouts dish for the viewing at the end of the episode too. hoped in vain that one of the other four would be like, yeah i'm not eating that.

I feel like they have to make Tan say things like that periodically, or he just comes off as too negative compared to the others. But I could be wrong. Obviously he became my hero when he wouldn't let the squirrel thing go.

I am one of those brussels sprout converts. When it's their season I roast a batch every week to snack on.

yeah someone once told me once that the only reason i didn't like brussels sprouts was because they'd been prepared wrong my whole life and would you believe it, they were right as hell

I love it when Tan is mean/firm. I can feel myself agreeing with him in every misanthropic cell of my body.

I found a youtube vid of the 5 being interviewed by ADAM RIPPON which is like next-level, and jvn called Tan mean for not wanting to spend 24/7 together. "Like after ONLY 10 HOURS he can't even handle it! How is that a thing? Who needs BREAKS?" And Tan is on the other sofa being like, "It's true. That is a thing." I get you, Tan.

yeah, it's great when tan lets his inner dour yorkshireman out every now and again

Tan is always my number 1 or 2 favorite.

I loved it when he got the woman in the first episode the camo dress, that was a very human little moment

I feel like Tan’s enthusiasm is measured but genuine while Antoni’s feels increasingly fake as episodes go by.

antoni definitely seems the most... guarded? i feel like we've learned the least about his background for sure

I am not an Antoni fan but when he was wearing that fuzzy pink sweater, i was like, oh... yeah he's pretty hot there

I am so glad Karamo stopped drawing in his hair. He looks completely nice bald.

antoni's john mayer resemblance always bothers me

i am forever in awe of jonathan's ability to be completely jonathan in every situation and to get seemingly everyone he meets 100% on the jonathan train

Antoni is the most attractive to me personally, but also, as acknowledged in the first season, he's the most "straight-passing" of the bunch. (I think this was addressed in re to going to rural places and how it worried some of the others but not him and he was like "Yeah but they just think I'm straight.") Seems like it would be a) dumb and b) against the whole ethos of the show for him to be pressured to be more performative than he genuinely feels? He and Bobby are kinda the antidote to Tan and jvn's big big personalities.

Antoni is clearly doing as much as he can (or else the show's producers are) to downplay his privilege. Tho if it's the producers, at least even they knew they had to leave in that bit about Antoni going to a riding camp and Karamo retoring, "We were poor."

They seem less prescriptive this season, or is it that they know they are dealing with people who have much bigger problems and need to be handled more carefully?

Camo lady likes camo, Tan gets her camo. Camp manager guy doesn't wash, so they get him clothes that don't smell when he sweats. I fully expected them to tell that man he needed to get his act together and wash more often.
