Reading the description makes me want to taste it (and their gin).

And suddenly France gets an obesity crisis (she writes, drooling).

wowww

blood, loud screaming and nudity (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Friday, 15 March 2019 21:29 (seven years ago)

The cheese sauce is gross imo. Otherwise it’s just a kebab in a tortilla, at least as kebabs are here, with fries amongst the meat. Don’t get me wrong, i like kebabs, but tacos aren’t a good advance.

L'assie (Euler), Friday, 15 March 2019 21:33 (seven years ago)

There's a Moroccan joint serving french tacos in Mainz. Will be there next weekend, eat, and report.

Three Word Username, Friday, 15 March 2019 21:38 (seven years ago)

that's a weird thing to call a "taco"

moose; squirrel (silby), Friday, 15 March 2019 21:39 (seven years ago)

Oh, I had those tacos a couple of times in Paris because it was the latest thing open on the block. I would eat those again.

Yerac, Friday, 15 March 2019 21:46 (seven years ago)

It was good because they had an assortment of interesting sauces and they had falafel balls as an option instead of getting meat.

Yerac, Friday, 15 March 2019 21:48 (seven years ago)

Looks essentially like a Hot Pocket.

nickn, Friday, 15 March 2019 22:11 (seven years ago)

If this gets 'big' in the USA, the fad might last a bit longer than the Cronut did, since it is more like a meal than a dessert. But I suspect that the quality of the ingredients will suffer rapid decline once it is transplanted from France to the USA. The French may eat junk food, but they don't eat heavily adulterated crap made from semi-edible food-like components.

A is for (Aimless), Friday, 15 March 2019 22:26 (seven years ago)

I wasn't a huge fan of french fries in it and the cheese was a bit too mild for me, but still would eat.

Yerac, Friday, 15 March 2019 22:26 (seven years ago)

I don't like fries in general so I am sure that is just my weird thing about the tacos.

Yerac, Friday, 15 March 2019 22:29 (seven years ago)

Looks a bit like a Poutine Sandwich? Would probably be better with gravy in lieu of cheese sauce.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 15 March 2019 22:31 (seven years ago)

There is one of these places in Brooklyn.

Yerac, Friday, 15 March 2019 22:34 (seven years ago)

As a vegetarian in France I used to get fry-sandwiches from schwarma joints

Anyway if heavily adulterated crap made from semi-edible food-llke components = McDonald's fries you could do worse

heinrich boll weevil (Hadrian VIII), Friday, 15 March 2019 22:36 (seven years ago)

It looks like Philly steak calzone, with the meat spiced with the seven spices (etc) common in kebabs/shawarma (black pepper, cumin, paprika, coriander, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cardamom). Not rocket science, and certainly not requiring the "finest" of ingredients.

Dunning-Kruger Overdrive (Sanpaku), Friday, 15 March 2019 23:50 (seven years ago)

No, it's more like a huge burrito pressed into a panini envelope. The meat/main, toppings, and sauces are chosen like Chipotle.

Yerac, Saturday, 16 March 2019 01:34 (seven years ago)

There is a menu for the main chain online. I've had the chicken cordon bleu and falafel (although I don't see falafel on the menu).

Yerac, Saturday, 16 March 2019 01:36 (seven years ago)

looks like a gyro with melted cheese instead of the yogurt sauce, that's all i see

ciderpress, Saturday, 16 March 2019 01:39 (seven years ago)

b-b-b-but there are FRENCH FRIES!!*

*aka "chips"**

** mainly in certain backward nations lacking in Grand Canyons and such like civilizing influences

A is for (Aimless), Saturday, 16 March 2019 03:09 (seven years ago)

FRITES, dammit!

suzy, Saturday, 16 March 2019 05:54 (seven years ago)

I wonder if you can get a munchie box in a wrap?

Fantastic. I knew that would be a silly question.

brain (krakow), Saturday, 16 March 2019 12:17 (seven years ago)

my local gyro shop puts fries in there so i forgot that wasn't a standard thing

ciderpress, Saturday, 16 March 2019 12:40 (seven years ago)

xp That’s a very witty piece for the Metro to run.

suzy, Saturday, 16 March 2019 15:04 (seven years ago)

I thought Beef magazine was just a cool name for a foodie magazine, disappointingly it is all just about beef.

Dan Worsley, Saturday, 16 March 2019 15:32 (seven years ago)

I much prefer wraps/tortilla skins to bread as a meat/veg/cheese vehicle so I am for all these things.

Yerac, Saturday, 16 March 2019 16:44 (seven years ago)

it's funny to me how now the best places to buy tortillas in Paris are the halal butchers. flour only fwiw.

L'assie (Euler), Saturday, 16 March 2019 17:23 (seven years ago)

“Flour only” makes those bad places to buy tortillas

moose; squirrel (silby), Saturday, 16 March 2019 18:59 (seven years ago)

Khubz or lavash are not tortillas.

Dunning-Kruger Overdrive (Sanpaku), Saturday, 16 March 2019 19:05 (seven years ago)

The corn tortillas sold in the supermarkets here are abominations, more like galettes with a mix of flour and corn. I order my corn tortillas from a store in Austria of all places. Usa got us beat on this no question.

But these aren’t lavash, these are regular flour tortillas, labeled as such, some even listed as for fajitas. But they have Arabic labels too.

L'assie (Euler), Saturday, 16 March 2019 20:18 (seven years ago)

Wraps are usually flour and always available in Mediterranean/Middle Eastern/Turkish shops. I’m a big fan of za’atar naan, and suspect they would suit a French taco thing quite well.

suzy, Saturday, 16 March 2019 20:32 (seven years ago)

I kind of use "wrap" to cover everything in that family that is used for sandwich purposes.

Yerac, Saturday, 16 March 2019 21:32 (seven years ago)

Surely O'Quesadilla is a far more appropriate name?

Mozzarella is wasted on hot dogs.

Yerac, Wednesday, 1 May 2019 21:43 (seven years ago)

findom haddie (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 1 May 2019 21:44 (seven years ago)

findom haddie (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 1 May 2019 21:44 (seven years ago)

Japan, home of the mayonnaise pizza (and variants like mayo+potatos+corn), wins all contests for grotesque variants on pizza.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/02/burger-king-takes-on-mcdonalds-with-a-range-of-unhappy-meals.html

Burger King has launched a range of burger meals that focus on “real” moods.

The fast-food chain introduced a range of boxed deals it’s calling “Real Meals,” including the Pissed Meal, Blue Meal, Salty Meal, Yaaas Meal and DGAF (Don’t Give a F---) Meal as part of Mental Health Awareness Month in May. The deal includes a Whopper sandwich, french fries and a drink.

“Burger King restaurants understands that no one is happy all the time. That’s why they’re asking guests to order a Whopper meal based on however they might be feeling,” an online release stated Wednesday.
