Non, je ned raggette rien (onimo), Sunday, 17 March 2019 21:14 (seven years ago)

I went from doing wee daft animations to being an invaluable member of a team of 30 people. I’d only started at the company a few months previously as a wee ned from Carnwadric – that’s how I felt.

I was one of those 30 people btw.

Lammy's Show (Tom D.), Sunday, 17 March 2019 23:01 (seven years ago)

did you think he was a wee ned from carnwadric

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Monday, 18 March 2019 17:02 (seven years ago)

that place name makes you sound like you've got a speech impediment.

Acting Crazy (Instrumental) (jed_), Monday, 18 March 2019 17:58 (seven years ago)

(xp) Pretty much, that's was the desired effect I think.

Lammy's Show (Tom D.), Monday, 18 March 2019 18:01 (seven years ago)

Turns out that Limmy was asked to star in Bandersnatch as the more experienced developer who leapt off the balcony after taking acid. But he turned it down as it clashed with the Bristol tour date.

Crazy that he turned it down - Black Mirror is a worldwide phenomenon and could have exposed him to a massive new audience and new acting roles. I mean, massive respect for not letting down his Bristol fans but he could have rescheduled that date, surely?

NI, Monday, 25 March 2019 18:48 (seven years ago)

that's wild.

although i would say that he's never going to become a worldwide draw due to his accent and he probably wouldn't fancy a big acting career as he's a huge homebody

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Monday, 25 March 2019 19:06 (seven years ago)

Both true yeah, but it'd be a big boost to his career either way. He is fansfirst4eva though but man, I'd have moved heaven and earth to do that role, it's the most 'him' tv character probably ever

Haha! It's the way his smile drops at the end but he keeps baring his teeth, all manic. Absolute master of those tiny subtle moments like that

Similarly, at his Manchester show the other night he was talking about his penultimate pill in Ibiza, aged 35, stood in the middle of the dancefloor going YESSS, the other, younger clubbers backing away. Acting out their fears about him lashing out wildly with huge sweeping punches then gripping someone in a headlock leering down on them going ME AND YOU ALL NIGHT SON, ALL FUCKING NIGHT, eyes bulging, same terrifying grimace. Hands down one of the funniest things I've ever seen

NI, Monday, 25 March 2019 21:20 (seven years ago)

I was trying to think what he'd do next. Hopefully more tv like his homemade show or vines, probably for Sky, or maybe ch4. I haven't delved into his twitch much, some of the improv stuff falls flat for me, same with the gaming, doesn't reach the heights of his earlier webcam party shows, but I hope he returns to that in some form. Having said that, apparently he earns decent money just from donations on twitch, like some kind of through the looking glass YouTuber, and he's said he loves doing that more than anything at the moment

His autobiography ends on a weirdly dark note, makes the reader hark back to the uncomfortable implication of the title. Whole book is full of astonishingly candid stories, like how not long before finishing the book he was on the verge of leaving Lynn, looking for a new flat. Brutally honest, but not in the usual way that term is used, in a smaller, more intense way

NI, Monday, 25 March 2019 21:27 (seven years ago)

i don't envisage him doing more tv as it seems he can't get a series on the BBC. sitcom ideas patched by execs without even getting to do a pilot or anything, and then the homemade show commissioned but just a one off, no series commissioned. just can't be commercially successful to the extent of making it worth the BBC's while, which is a crying shame.

he twitch streams a lot. he goes on about how that's what he wants to do from then on quite often. he also occasionally mentions writing, what i assume is another book. think this will be him for a while

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Monday, 25 March 2019 21:42 (seven years ago)

He said at his (other) Manchester show the other night that he should be starting to film a full series of Homemade Show soon.

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 26 March 2019 16:03 (seven years ago)

Did Limmy do the internet video where the dad character won't stop dad dancing and the son is like "stop him, he's got a heart condition!" while the dad goes "I miss her so much son!"?

Dan I., Tuesday, 26 March 2019 16:09 (seven years ago)

hah, okay, yes now I found it. I wasn't sure if that's what you all were talking about, or if it was just uncannily like the one I was remembering

Dan I., Tuesday, 26 March 2019 16:10 (seven years ago)

eckied dad

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 26 March 2019 16:11 (seven years ago)

originated on his webcam as an improv bit, and was in the second season of the show https://www.facebook.com/LimmyDotCom/posts/eckied-da-one-of-the-best-nights-of-my-fucking-life-and-hell-be-appearing-somewh/131497513584692/

if that’s an illuminating reminiscence by Limmy about Eckied Dad, could you post it here?

Song For Brexit Day is hilarious

Robert Adam Gilmour, Saturday, 30 March 2019 12:27 (seven years ago)

aye was good.

that same day he did a morning walk stream, a dark souls stream, and an american truck driving stream. some work ethic on the boy.

on the truck driving stream that day he started talking about the song hazard by richard marx and then got folk to post the lyrics in the chat and did a really strained version of it. he then crashed his truck while singing it and said "it is a fucking hazard".

i was absolutely howling. maybe you had to be there though

is this something that can earn you £££?

Funky Isolations (jed_), Thursday, 15 August 2019 21:03 (six years ago)

he's got a few thousand subscribers i think, and he gets a few quid a month for each one. people can also donate 2 quid or "cheer" (not sure how that works exactly but he gets an in-twitch currency called "bits" for this which can then be converted into money when he has larger sums of them)

bookmarkflaglink (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 15 August 2019 21:07 (six years ago)

ah i see kinda.

Funky Isolations (jed_), Thursday, 15 August 2019 21:14 (six years ago)

subscribers pay monthly, so he's getting a few quid monthly, from a few thousand people, plus a bit of additional income from the donations and "cheers". it's basically his main job at the moment, though he has mentioned that he has been writing for some project (whether for another book or tv he hasn't confirmed)
