there’s this weird fake conversational thing where she made a post, he responds with “you should explain” and she did that

it’s indistinguishable from informercial dialogue where they’re about to tell you what to buy

Zizek will be a discursive mess and Peterson will be self righteous but stick to the talking points

flappy bird, Saturday, 2 March 2019 05:24 (seven years ago)

but I hope he can properly flummox JP

mh, Saturday, 2 March 2019 16:05 (seven years ago)

Inuit diet >>>>> JP's diet.

pomenitul, Saturday, 2 March 2019 16:07 (seven years ago)

I think JP vs. Zizek is a fair fight but JP would probably win. he's younger, he's "healthier" (I guess), and more than Zizek, he would REALLY want to win. he'd train. Zizek would forget about it until the day before

flappy bird, Sunday, 3 March 2019 05:32 (seven years ago)

now, if Zizek can get a sucker punch in, or initiate a spontaneous brawl, he could absolutely fuck JP up animal style

flappy bird, Sunday, 3 March 2019 05:33 (seven years ago)

there's gotta be no way Zizek is "healthy" in any way recognized by science

can totally see JP rolling up his shirt sleeves and adopting that 19th century dukes up stance

all Zisek has to do is slip him some apple cider before the bout...

Yeah I suspect this is how it will play out for the most part.

I guarantee you though that Z is gonna be “Here I actually agree with you”-ing though, especially when it comes to anti-PC/idpol stuff.

Conceptualize Wyverns (latebloomer), Sunday, 3 March 2019 10:35 (seven years ago)

i don't think they share much common ground on anti-idpol stuff, do they? for zizek i think identity politics are, like, misdirected expressions of a bigger liberatory impulse, coming from a leftist challenge to the prevailing social order, originally, whatever they've become, and because racism and sexism are real and urgent problems we should stop being polite about them to have a frank and honest discussion??? (a string of question marks to signify that i hope that's a correct reading of zizek and correct me please if i'm wrong), while jordan peterson believes that political correctness is a nihilistic conspiracy to attack western civilization and its values which are good and great things that must be protected at all costs, shutting down speech is done to support the idea of egalitarianism (we need strict hierarchies or rather strict hierarchies are built into our system which is the best) and compassion which are not good. (zizek on eu refugee situation, we need to have a frank conversation about the problem because it's necessary if europe is to welcome in the people that a western imperial-led global economy has rendered hopeless / jp, islam is bad and we need to talk about it because radical leftists/college professors/women in politics will use it to overturn western values and steal power from people that have risen to power by competence and authority).

I'm sure this will be a mess in reality but Zizek's Lacanianism could, ideally, unravel JP's whole pseudo-Jungian schtick (I don't think JP is really equipped to unravel Zizek's schtick).

I'll probably listen. The clashing of vocal tics seems like half the point of this debate.

jmm, Sunday, 3 March 2019 18:20 (seven years ago)

ever since i clicked on this thread in a fit of boredom and saw that Kermit is being used to represent Jordan Peterson, I have had a big stomachache. That's not my Kermit! Kermit is his own frog, and even though literally no one cares what I think about this, I strongly object to using the image of Kermit to signify anything related to Jordan Peterson or his repellent beliefs.

Is this a widespread usage?

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Monday, 4 March 2019 19:03 (seven years ago)

Yes. Sorry. :(

pomenitul, Monday, 4 March 2019 19:04 (seven years ago)

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
i mean no on so many levels

This is an appropriation I can't accept!

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Monday, 4 March 2019 19:05 (seven years ago)

Kermit is benevolent; JP is not
Kermit is generous and cares about his community; JP is selfish and self-serving

Where does this come from? Who would actually think that Kermit the Frog is anything like JP?!

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Monday, 4 March 2019 19:07 (seven years ago)

it's just his nasally kermit voice, that's it

j., Monday, 4 March 2019 19:10 (seven years ago)

BARF. How dare they impugn Kermit this way? I want to karate chop JP followers Hi-YA Miss Piggy style for committing this crime of appropriation.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Monday, 4 March 2019 19:12 (seven years ago)

i sometimes do doubt the strategy of trying to zing the alt-right by turning their symbolic leader into the image of a green frog.

It makes me dislike them even more than I already did, which was...a lot

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Monday, 4 March 2019 19:16 (seven years ago)

there is no way i am abandoning the Kermit I know for this imposter

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Monday, 4 March 2019 19:16 (seven years ago)

I'm able to hold contradictory thoughts in my head: Kermit the frog is a beloved icon and will forever be one of my favorites. On the other hand, JP sounds a hell of a lot like Kermit and it's really funny

I can completely understand not wanting to sully a pure figure like our favorite frog like this, though

mh, Monday, 4 March 2019 19:18 (seven years ago)

I am also able to hold contradictory thoughts in my head; however, I have strong feelings about Kermit, he's not just any frog to me. I suppose this gives me something to argue about with JP followers, who I want to tell to fuck off anyway.

One of the most disappointing developments since his ascendance has been seeing people I thought were rational quote him, share his stupid ideas, and generally adopt the posture of a JP follower. Brain worms: they are real and they are rampant.
