Re:Donen & The Death Montage: I saw somewhere once that they have to have it prepared a couple weeks in advance (due to timing and clearing the clips), so anyone who dies prior to the ceremony has to wait until next year.

Free Solo is terrific. If only for the relationship between character and filmmakers!

I haven’t seen many of the other nominated film but the favourite is a great movie and the performances by the three leads are really excellent. Well deserved win by Olivia Coleman.

A Quiet Place was really robbed.

Watched the Olivia Colman speech, and it will be the only thing I watch from these Oscars. Glenn Close steaming worth it alone, but most wild to see Yorgos Lanthimos crying at the Oscars. Awesome.

If you wonder what a "champion of Green Book" sounds like, well, here is renowned liberal racist awards blogger Jeffrey Wells.

Alas, the p.c. left tried to kill Green Book over and over. Ask anyone in the Oscar-strategizing business — it was one of the ugliest attempted takedown campaigns in Hollywood history.

But Academy members, to their eternal credit, told the haters to stuff it. It’s not that I think Green Book is an especially brilliant or mesmerizimg film, or that it delivers a profoundly meaningful subcurrent or after-vibe or what-have-you, but the tears of joy that came to my eyes when it won are about the glorious decision by Academy voters to tell the Stalinist lefties and p.c. virtue-signallers to go fuck themselves…that they like or love what Green Book is about and how it made them feel, and to hell with the snooties.

I kind of hovered for the first half--DVD going, No Country for Old Men on TV (seemed apropos: "that colossal goat-fuck out in the desert"), some computer time in the adjacent room--caught as much of the second half as I could stand. Highlight was Lady Gaga's Lola Heatherton speech ("Bradley Cooper, I want to BEAR YOUR CHILD!") about how tough she's got it. Disappointed that Jonas Mekas was left off the death roll.
