Well this makes up for having sat through all of Spurs Newcastle yesterday.

Last time Wolves won at Goodison, Andy King (RIP) was sent off for punching Emlyn Hughes (RIP).

Almost entirely successful cloning experiment on the Arsenal touchline just then with that double substitution.

Matt DC, Sunday, 3 February 2019 17:55 (seven years ago)

Prophetic thread title. We could be on for one of the all time great chokes here.

Matt DC, Monday, 4 February 2019 22:08 (seven years ago)

This is a fun league to watch from far away with no rooting interest.

I'm enjoying the epl this year. not watching nearly enough of it, but we've got a title race on our hands and no mistake.

id kind of like liverpool to win it. first season of english football that i have any recollection of of 1990-91, so the season after they last won it.

with one of the highest points tallies of all time? seriously a spurs fan this season talking about chokes - the one-week title challenge and nosebleeds at the prospect of even being second.

fwiw i cant see beyond liverpool. every team has had a bump in jan p much

im just glad to be looking up not down

ɪmˈpəʊzɪŋ (darraghmac), Monday, 4 February 2019 22:52 (seven years ago)

i think the next few weeks will reveal a lot - liverpool have been poor most of 2019 but they will come out of it. city have a few tricky games but can't really see them dropping points. not sure liverpool will do it really, and that's my attempt at an honest detached assessment. the defensive injuries are stopping them getting results they were grinding out earlier in the season.

FernandoHierro, Monday, 4 February 2019 22:55 (seven years ago)

gotta say, i knew joe gomez was class when he played for us in the championship but i didn't think he'd pretty much have the fate of the premiership resting on him

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 22:59 (seven years ago)

p.s. can u guys pay us a bit more for him in restrospect, i think that wd be fair

I feel the same. A few injuries and everythings thrown into jeopardy. That midfield is not good enough to compete with City either. Last nights midfield line-up - lallana, keita and fabinho - they wouldnt get within an asses roar of the City team

. (Michael B), Tuesday, 5 February 2019 12:12 (seven years ago)

citys midfield suffers badly with one or two notable omissions, every team's does.

ɪmˈpəʊzɪŋ (darraghmac), Tuesday, 5 February 2019 12:16 (seven years ago)

What I've seen of Fabinho this season suggests that, after a bit more time adapting the Premiership, he might be good enough to get regular games in the City midfield, especially given their over-reliance on Fernandinho. The others I agree.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 5 February 2019 12:20 (seven years ago)

there are only a handful of non-midfielders in the city squad. they coped without kev, only fernandinho is essential atm. agree that fabinho looks great

ogmor, Tuesday, 5 February 2019 12:21 (seven years ago)

VvD tried some damage control yesterday saying it's nbd and Liverpool shouldn't forget to "enjoy" being in the title race. I understand what he's getting at, but a draw or loss against Utd and I can see Klopp's carefully built squad crumbling under the pressure. Nobody said it was gonna be easy tho so ymmv

Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 5 February 2019 12:22 (seven years ago)

Meanwhile, if United beat Liverpool later this month they can go top four, topple Liverpool and send City top in one game. This assumes City beat Chelsea obviously.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 5 February 2019 12:26 (seven years ago)

the main damage is being done outside of top 6 teams interplaying

ɪmˈpəʊzɪŋ (darraghmac), Tuesday, 5 February 2019 12:27 (seven years ago)

xp chelsea have city this weekend while united have fulham, so hoping we'll be top 4 before the liverpool match tbh

yeah fabinho looks absolute quality to me, albeit took him a while to settle. demands the ball, uses it well, dictates tempo, he's really promising. keita was decent second half but a bit mercurial. he can beat a man in a way you don't see often though. give him another season i guess. wijnaldum and milner missing really saps the energy.

"Cardiff have withheld the first scheduled payment until they are satisfied with the documentation."

this is getting predictably quite nasty already.

calzino, Wednesday, 6 February 2019 16:21 (seven years ago)

Would it kill both clubs to just do a 50/50 and let it rest?

Do Everton fans want their team to lose tonight, in order to hinder Liverpool's chances of winning the Premier League? pic.twitter.com/LcFDuayFaL

apparently Wagner is fav to be their next manager.

calzino, Wednesday, 6 February 2019 16:27 (seven years ago)

there

him + his best pal Klopp at both Liverpool clubs would be something.

calzino, Wednesday, 6 February 2019 16:28 (seven years ago)

ha yes, they'd have a right laugh about that

Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 6 February 2019 16:30 (seven years ago)

I think Cardiff should stump up the full transfer fee without question. Anything else means they are disreputable twats.

calzino, Wednesday, 6 February 2019 16:30 (seven years ago)

they should give the lot to the families of the deceased

imago, Wednesday, 6 February 2019 16:36 (seven years ago)

and make willie mckay pay nantes

imago, Wednesday, 6 February 2019 16:37 (seven years ago)

Everton probably not helping themselves by going for an entirely different manager with a totally different style of play and different personnel requirements every single time. Martinez -> Koeman -> Allardyce -> Silva -> Wagner just makes me wonder if the board have a clue what they're doing.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 6 February 2019 16:48 (seven years ago)

Wagner shouldn't damage his career by involving himself with a complete go-nowhere club like Everton. It's probably the worst job in the Premier League.
