The Good Place on NBC

strangely i don't like his movie podcast -- there's another guy on it who always shouts over everyone. (also their movie tastes don't line up with my own, but whatever.)

I've stopped listening to Comedy Bang Bang except for episodes with Mantzoukas. I miss him on Brooklyn Nine-Nine too.

Paul Scheer! I find him and Rob Corddry indistinguishably annoying. Was disappointing to see him turn up on Good Place a couple of weeks ago. But then he disappeared again. Good.

Generally any podcast that involves a group of two or three men laughing at their own in-jokes is a hard NO for me, even if I like all the people involved

If it can pull a Justified (subpar penultimate season followed by return-to-form-and-then-some) then good. Lots of incidental pleasures last season but was generally disappointing.

Series overview/behind the scenes/best of The Paley Centre Salutes the Good Place was quite fun.

Sorry to hear about end of the show, but it probably is good that they quit while they're ahead.

Oh. Well it seemed to wrapped up close to the same as any other episode so they didn't really have to bother imo.

I don't know, I thought it was great. Rampaging Simone is great and the boring lady was amazing top to bottom.

yeah, full of excellent moments, it just felt underwhelming for a season premiere.

btw i have a full-blown crush on chris baker, which just goes onto the pile of crushes i have on the performers in this unfairly attractive show

I was very glad the boring lady turned out to be a demon, as I was already worried about that (good) joke wearing thin over any more episodes

I dunno; I’m not big on doing the reboot-cycle on Chidi for a third(or more) time

Not sure why, but I feel I’m going to be v disappointed in the series if this last season doesn’t have an emancipatory aspect to it. They’ve covered both moral development but also how an archaic & sclerotic moral system literally dooms everyone within it, and it feels like the final critical task to destroy the illegitimate system and liberate both themselves and humanity.

It seemed like they were giving hints about that at the end of the last season with the “No one is going to save you and fix things, Michael, you have to do it yourself” bits

I made my cousin watch the first couple of episodes (s1) - did Chidi have his teeth fixed at some point? They look different!

I enjoyed this episode - even if the shapelessness of this season is a mess.
