A belting moment as Sky Sports think they have spotted Jan Siewart (potentially the new Huddersfield manager) in the crowd at the John Smiths Stadium, approach him for interview, only for it to be some random fan called John Morris 😂 pic.twitter.com/womwb1luh3— Samantha Quek (@SamanthaQuek) January 20, 2019

grand back the pitch but when hes on the ball a lot anywhere within 50 yrs of goal you know we're huffing and puffing

i wonder whats the fewest number of crosses a team with fernando llorente up front on his own has ever attempted
cool that we might break that the same day we set a record for five yard sideways passes from midfield to left back tho

enjoyed sanchez handling mitro today. forward play really lacking though, only alli with good movement in the box and now he's injured
― ogmor, Sunday, 20 January 2019 17:40 (seven years ago)
his penchant for losing the ball with low-percentage flicks instead of playing it simply hasnt been much use today tbh

the plight of being the only player on the right page is everyone else is out of sync and you look useless

― ogmor, Sunday, 20 January 2019 17:53 (seven years ago)
persistence the order of the day. rose and winks not always great but kept plugging away. llorente was tragic, but imo tobes and vert were pretty magnificent, toby especially, running into the box to make space for winks. the relative defensive solidity without a DM is to their credit.
― ogmor, Sunday, 20 January 2019 17:57 (seven years ago)
its worth noting that christie, odoi shouldve been off over the 90mins and mitrovic got away with the usual murder
llorente will score pots of goals when we start crossing. he got on the end of everything today and wasnt far away...rly
― topical mlady (darraghmac), Sunday, 20 January 2019 18:01 (seven years ago)
he certainly seemed surprised to get on the end of that cross towards the end
― Number None, Sunday, 20 January 2019 18:04 (seven years ago)
papering over cracks is actually good now. I'm a rogue landlord
Winks and Alli both poor in general tho yeah as was the crossing or lack thereof, irony of a sort

Apparently he was on a 'Piper Malibu' - you would not get me on one of those things and I have negligible monetary value, fuck knows what they were thinking putting their new £15m signing on one.

“I'm on a plane that looks like it's going to fall apart, and I'm leaving for Cardiff,” Sala said in a WhatsApp audio message carried by Argentine media.“If in an hour and a half you have no news from me, I don't know if they will send people to look for me, because they will not find me, you know. Dad, I'm so scared,” he added.

― calzino, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 08:10 (seven years ago)
Fuck, whoever took the decision to put him on that plane is criminally negligent at best and maybe guilty of manslaughter?

as someone with a lifelong fear of flying and a big terra firma fan, it seems to have played out just like my worst paranoid nightmares about getting on a plane, and in particular one of these small planes. I'd imagine if his parents have given this very personal stuff to the Argentinian media themselves, they are feeling a lot of anger as well as anguish.
― calzino, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 10:23 (seven years ago)
Cardiff have been at pains to point out that apparently Sala organized the plane himself.
This is the pilot (and plane) apparently talking about all the things that can go wrong:

TBH, it’s not just the type of aeroplane, it’s the type of flying that is being undertaken. Flying at night, overwater, in weather is probably the hardest flying that any pilot will ever do. There are a number of effects that upset the human gyroscopic balance, which can become deadly. Effects such as black hole effect, where a pilot gets disoriented by the darkness, giving a feeling of too high, too low or just not flying level. Strobe effect, where the flashing white lights bounce off surrounding clouds and cause disorientation and nausea. The leans, which is one of the most deadly. Often caused by false horizons from lights or clouds, also caused from accelerations in turbulence(especially at night), where the body/brain thinks the aircraft is flying in a turn or straight or climbing or descending, when in fact the aircraft is flying not as perceived by the brain. The pilot then compensates for the feeling by turning or pushing down or applying power, which increases the feeling, which then leads to the pilot turning further or pushing further. Just ends in a crash. It’s the most awful and scary feeling on a dark night.Throw in the fact that the equipment isn’t really the best to be taking on those conditions, an aging, single engine turboprop aircraft with most likely a primitive autopilot and navigational/radio aids, it puts this pilot in a difficult situation. I’m trying not to speculate here and trying more to offer a number of reasons why I personally would have never stepped on that aircraft.

some more horrific context from someone who has flown one of these things.

we had a very high publicity rescue helicopter crash a few years back and even a basic skim over the environment, scenarios and likely causes were similarly nightmarish
