problem is all he watches is FOX News which is constantly reassuring him that he's winning and that Nancy is gonna cave any moment now

frogbs, Thursday, 17 January 2019 15:46 (seven years ago)

xpost OTOH, this could be like the time when he continued stubbornly insisting that the USFL play its games on the same nights as the NFL until the entire league immolated.

That Pelosi is 78 and spanking his ass is nice.

Yerac, Thursday, 17 January 2019 15:47 (seven years ago)

(I know just north of zero about sports but I continue to urge people to watch the 30 for 30 episode about the USFL if you'd like a window into how useless a turd Trump has always been.)

BREAKING: The HHS inspector general says “thousands” more migrant children were likely separated by the Trump administration than previously known.

sickening

What's with these IGs finally making belated reports. Nothing else to do during the shutdown? Last week it was the DoI IG admitting Trump DC hotel deal was unconstitutional.

Sanpaku, Thursday, 17 January 2019 16:06 (seven years ago)

Unfortunately, I agree with the White House person who told outlets yesterday that out of control TSA lines are about the only thing that will nudge him.

I wonder if certain government workers, for obvious reasons, don't follow the day-to-day news in the guise of independence, and tackle their tasks as they get to them, like good bureaucrats do.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 17 January 2019 16:10 (seven years ago)

at MIA this morning the most crowded terminal looked like it had a 40-minute TSA line, longer than usual at 6:30 a.m. but not uncommon. I walked to another terminal that also allowed access to my gate and I was out in 15 minutes, tops.

IG's definitely march to the beat of their own drum, but I think they'd probably prioritize an investigation involving the president violating the constitution

Karl Malone, Thursday, 17 January 2019 16:27 (seven years ago)

but who knows. the offices of the IG's are in a secluded area on a space station with no windows iirc, they are crazy

seriously, it is kind of astonishing how many times he blurts out loud, in the form of an accusation against someone else, what he HIMSELF is actually doing

Karl Malone, Thursday, 17 January 2019 17:15 (seven years ago)

In want of the brain function that would allow him to invent a debased scenario from whole cloth, he must content himself with the misattribution of his own debasement (see: NO PUPPET, NO PUPPET, YOU'RE THE PUPPET). Which I suppose puts paid to anyone who might assert that he isn't fully aware of what a pile of human garbage he is.

xxp that's why it's always funny to me when he tweets about the 22 angry dems and the unfair witch hunt because he would actually be conducting witch hunts of political enemies if the darn justice department would just let him.

This (beyond his general imbecility and complete lack of core convictions) is why playing the 'look, he just did a thing he lambasted someone for doing five years ago!' game is a waste of effort.

A Nugatory Excrescence (Old Lunch), Thursday, 17 January 2019 17:43 (seven years ago)

With migrant family reunification, is anyone here doing anything? Is there a meaningful place to donate to?

Trϵϵship, Thursday, 17 January 2019 17:55 (seven years ago)

I can google but i also want to discuss—this is a situation that shouldn’t slip out of view. It needs to be solved.

Trϵϵship, Thursday, 17 January 2019 17:56 (seven years ago)

RAICES is frequently mentioned in the context of southern border migration activism and they have a Families Together Hotline set up, they could probably use your money.

just a general recommendation for everybody

Οὖτις, Thursday, 17 January 2019 18:25 (seven years ago)

ACLU pissed me off after Charlottesville, when they defended the march of these often *armed* assholes to march, but they came to their senses and said irrc they would no longer defend the right of armed assholes to march.

gbx also has a good friend working in this area that he's mentioned here a couple times. anyone remember the name? maybe it's one already mentioned just upthread.

Karl Malone, Thursday, 17 January 2019 18:34 (seven years ago)

Ive donated 20 per month to ACLU since inauguration. May be time to up it!

mookieproof, Thursday, 17 January 2019 19:29 (seven years ago)

of course Trump doesn't get that everyone else isn't like him when it comes to going into an apoplectic rage when he doesn't get a goody.

Evans on Hammond (evol j), Thursday, 17 January 2019 19:30 (seven years ago)

Lol reports are that the trip was cancelled anyway since they aren't likely to recess in time.
