A buddy flying out of MIA yesterday said the same thing. He was at the terminal in 20 minutes.

The thing that slows down security is never TSA, it's always the dummies that have apparently never flown before. "Oh, I have to take off my shoes? No water allowed? I can't wear this huge metal belt buckle? Who knew?"

In early 2002 (<6 months after 9/11) I unwittingly flew across the country and back with an X-Acto in my carry-on bag. Which, clearly, was not caught by airline security at one of their periods of highest alert just after terrorists had used box cutters to hijack airplanes. My faith in their ability to ferret out contraband isn't particularly high.

I'm not surprised that many are for the wall, generally speaking. I wonder what percentage think the situation at the southern border rises to the level of national crisis and what percentage is cool with shutting down government over it.
