hope kane's not too badly injured. if this keeps utd away from poch then a fine result

ogmor, Sunday, 13 January 2019 18:26 (seven years ago)

haven't played anyone they said :)

Worryingly Mourinho-ish last half an hour but a great away performance overall. Hopefully Ole learns from that terrible Lukaku sub

any news on the kane injury? him and son missing is a huge disaster surely

my name is leee john, for we are many (NickB), Sunday, 13 January 2019 19:23 (seven years ago)

thought utd looked pretty unbothered all second half bar allowing us get on way too much ball in the box, and sure everyone knows that an upgrade on phil jones is needed anyway.

wish we couldve saved a few of those neat finishes against everton et al and just put one in a corner today tho

topical mlady (darraghmac), Sunday, 13 January 2019 19:35 (seven years ago)

I was at the game and there was this weird feeling of resignation that set in halfway through the second half when chance after chance went begging.

Kane injury is a huge worry but the Sissoko one is almost as concerning given we basically don't have a central midfield any more.

Matt DC, Sunday, 13 January 2019 19:51 (seven years ago)

United basically played Mouball for most of that, only difference is they actually did it well.

Matt DC, Sunday, 13 January 2019 19:51 (seven years ago)

Wagner gone. Blimey

groovypanda, Monday, 14 January 2019 18:16 (seven years ago)

“I know the term ‘mutual consent’ is often a byword for the manager being sacked in professional football, but this is a truly joint decision,” the chairman, Dean Hoyle, said.

thanks, Dean

Number None, Monday, 14 January 2019 18:18 (seven years ago)

Extremely shitty decision.

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 14 January 2019 18:18 (seven years ago)

Even with nine straight losses I didn't think that would happen, so he has either walked or the chairman is full of shit. I feel sad tbh , back to usual shit now probs. There were Big Sam rumours before it was even announced :(

calzino, Monday, 14 January 2019 18:20 (seven years ago)

Commiserations Calz :(

This is a cliché at this point, but in this case I truly can't see anyone doing better or, putting more in, than Wagner at HTFC.

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 14 January 2019 18:22 (seven years ago)

Some reckon he might have actually genuinely walked because the chairman did say he stays regardless of results, but this is the word of a complete tosser tbf.

calzino, Monday, 14 January 2019 18:29 (seven years ago)

You can have Brendan Rodgers, we'll take Wagner.

Never Turn Your Back On Virginia Woolf (Tom D.), Monday, 14 January 2019 18:31 (seven years ago)

it's fucking ridic if he has been sacked.

Man City will be dreading the new caretaker manager bounce on Sunday!

calzino, Monday, 14 January 2019 18:33 (seven years ago)

ffs

topical mlady (darraghmac), Monday, 14 January 2019 18:35 (seven years ago)

Jesus offside when the thru ball was played ffs

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:12 (seven years ago)

Too harsh. Boly clearly caught the ball first, replay shows

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:20 (seven years ago)

Fffs, Boly not reckless imo, but obv biased. Ref couldn't fucking wait to send him off tho.

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:23 (seven years ago)

Tbf I'm poorly and grumpy and knackered and don't wanna be in the pub and maybe I shd slope off at half time

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:25 (seven years ago)

Best to slope off bcz this looks like it will get ugly

Still, was never a red, ref's a cunt etc

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:27 (seven years ago)

Fernandinho's early yellow gives us possibilities I guess. Can't help myself - at least we'll try to get forward

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:32 (seven years ago)

Fuck me should've levelled it

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:36 (seven years ago)

Bollocks

Probly a pen, despite the theatrics, but again the ref couldn't contain his excitement

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:40 (seven years ago)

Shambles.

Doesn't the PL have the rule of "intent doesn't matter"? Ducth refs like to pretend they still hold up this rule. Because intention can't ever be determined? Would've saved Boly: regardless of intent, he struck the ball first. That's what matters.

It's all politics ffs

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:41 (seven years ago)

Fernandinho's early yellow gives us possibilities I guess

I'll throw a party the day this serial fouling prick gets a second yellow

Number None, Monday, 14 January 2019 20:43 (seven years ago)

Boly's red seemed fair enough to me though

Number None, Monday, 14 January 2019 20:48 (seven years ago)

I've seen them given, like I said, bias plus grottiness plus cunt ref's give us nothing

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Monday, 14 January 2019 20:50 (seven years ago)

striking the ball first doesn't matter at all

ogmor, Monday, 14 January 2019 21:11 (seven years ago)

it's either dangerous or it's not

ogmor, Monday, 14 January 2019 21:11 (seven years ago)

Yes

This has been litigated

Number None, Monday, 14 January 2019 21:13 (seven years ago)

That's why I'm not arguing about getting the ball. His foot wasn't really high or off the ground tho.

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Monday, 14 January 2019 21:31 (seven years ago)

Love to fuck up from a set piece we do

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Monday, 14 January 2019 21:36 (seven years ago)

Intent is a lonely hunter, but I'm glad I got ogmor (back) into the epl thread :)

lbi's life of limitless european glamour (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 14 January 2019 21:49 (seven years ago)

Kane is concerned he may not be fit for the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie with Borussia Dortmund next month.

The 25-year-old has endured ankle problems in each of the last three years

yes yes he has ankle problems ie with reckless tackles that dont intend on breaking his fuckin foot off at the ankle but arent too fuckin bothered by the odds in the moment neither

each of his stints out were as a result of tackles that should have seen red imo and im not even sure any were given as fouls as the ball was there to be won.

thats why red cards arent based on intent or nicking the ball. because as it is the willingness to injure superior players is already rewarded enough in this league

topical mlady (darraghmac), Monday, 14 January 2019 23:25 (seven years ago)

I have no idea what this supposed foul on Kane even was. Certainly wasn't noted during the game

Number None, Monday, 14 January 2019 23:45 (seven years ago)

It was noted on the radio at least - right at the very end.

Tim, Monday, 14 January 2019 23:46 (seven years ago)

I mean I wouldn't put it past Phil Jones. Just don't remember seeing anything

Number None, Monday, 14 January 2019 23:47 (seven years ago)

it was in the extra time after extra time id been crying for

not malicious but clumsy and full impact

topical mlady (darraghmac), Monday, 14 January 2019 23:52 (seven years ago)

sounds about right

Number None, Monday, 14 January 2019 23:53 (seven years ago)

Quite incredible there is no footage* of this injury in this day and age.

(there might be shoddy footage on twitter filmed by some fan but I'm not going there)

a pleasure to share the barclays premier league with you all. city's depth is upsetting and now kev's back blammin it about it's easy to imagine them winning every remaining game of the league. laporte is so dominant, and city's lateral movement so good for him to thread balls through, he has been outstanding this season

ogmor, Tuesday, 15 January 2019 01:28 (seven years ago)

Boly's challenge to me is on a sliding scale from Van Dijk's challenge on Insigne in the Napoli game to Kompany's challenge in the Liverpool game.

Van Dijk was booked and some said he should've had a yellow, but he was hardly out of control in that he went down on one knee and in one slick movement, was back on his feet... but his follow through did happen to plough into Insigne's calf/shin.

Boly was a very pointed one leg out, one leg tucked tackle at a fair lick, got the ball cleanly and his foot just happen to line up with where Bernardo had planted his.

Kompany's was completely wild two feet up, two feet in the air lunge, gets a faint toe on the ball and plants Salah running through on goal in the shin with his studs.

There's a world which says they're all reds, and I don't think any of us want to live in that world. A much fairer summation would be that only Kompany deserved a red.

Anthony "I'm A Manc" Taylor was never sending the City captain off at home in the first half of The Big Match. Give that to Michael "Trashcan Heart" Oliver and maybe there'd be a difference.

Pawson's a shit ref, but probably not even the worst one.

in twelve parts (lamonti), Tuesday, 15 January 2019 07:31 (seven years ago)

*should've had a red, in the first example I meant

in twelve parts (lamonti), Tuesday, 15 January 2019 07:32 (seven years ago)

Nuno's accepted the red, i agree it's not controversial enough to argue about in the cold light of morning.

moaty, boaty, big and bloaty (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 15 January 2019 07:34 (seven years ago)

all of those sound like reds to me

topical mlady (darraghmac), Tuesday, 15 January 2019 08:55 (seven years ago)

Looking back on it, that van Dijk tackle is worse than I remember at the time.

in twelve parts (lamonti), Tuesday, 15 January 2019 10:44 (seven years ago)

at least that turdulent freeloader has ruled himself out of the Town job, he's waiting for a gravy train not a gruel wagon.

calzino, Tuesday, 15 January 2019 10:47 (seven years ago)

Davide Moyez is looking for a job, I believe.
