There's probably never been a better time for English football fans to enjoy good, exciting, attacking, technical football that also wins games, certainly compared to the Mourinho imperial phase. You shouldn't have to choose these days.

Given mad Friday and booze and distraction that was a good match imo

Driving Drone for Christmas (Noodle Vague), Friday, 21 December 2018 22:40 (five years ago) link

It was indeed, news to nobody but you need a bit more firepower

or something, Friday, 21 December 2018 23:17 (five years ago) link

I was in the pub so not really giving it my full attention but why were there massive fuck off fireworks and what appeared to be Gary Neville doing a DJ set beforehand?

Matt DC, Saturday, 22 December 2018 11:50 (five years ago) link

have a feeling money will be lashed out on a new number 9 in January but that's never a straightforward job and especially not in terms of maintaining the shape of the rest of the team

Driving Drone for Christmas (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 22 December 2018 12:48 (five years ago) link

Palace with two goals in three minutes against Man City!

Oh in answer to Matt's question it's because our awesome owners bring the razzle dazzle whenever possible

Driving Drone for Christmas (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 22 December 2018 15:41 (five years ago) link

That Townsend goal was ridiculous.

Matt DC, Saturday, 22 December 2018 15:42 (five years ago) link

without Mooy, Hogg and Williams we don't even have a midfield functional enough for the championship. Lol can't wait for Town to get back there tbh.

calzino, Saturday, 22 December 2018 15:43 (five years ago) link

Chelsea losing now too.

ShariVari, Saturday, 22 December 2018 16:08 (five years ago) link

Palace again!

Croydon Boxpark is going to be like Sodom and Gomorrah tonight.

Matt DC, Saturday, 22 December 2018 17:08 (five years ago) link

Also Spurs fans, how many times have you seen Andros try that and it end up in the stands? Literally dozens.

Matt DC, Saturday, 22 December 2018 17:09 (five years ago) link

Saw townsend belt one into the face of a small child (some distance) behind the goal, making him cry and his dad very cross, in the warm up at goodison park a couple of years back. A sweet strike then as well tbf

Master Humphrey's Cock (Bananaman Begins), Saturday, 22 December 2018 17:51 (five years ago) link

I mean, everton had put up netting for the warm up specifically to avoid that scenario, but like that was ever going to stop andros peppering the crowd

Master Humphrey's Cock (Bananaman Begins), Saturday, 22 December 2018 17:53 (five years ago) link

Well this is fun.

Matt DC, Saturday, 22 December 2018 18:09 (five years ago) link

what a difference a manager makes eh

Number None, Saturday, 22 December 2018 18:11 (five years ago) link

I know it's only Cardiff but it really does shine a light on how bad Mourinho was. He would never have allowed three or four players to stream forward on the counter like that.

Matt DC, Saturday, 22 December 2018 18:13 (five years ago) link

yup. It's not all going to be plain sailing but the difference in application and energy is blindingly obvious

Number None, Saturday, 22 December 2018 18:14 (five years ago) link

oh fuck me, we'll be adding to his bullshit rep next week. god help us.

Townsend for gots BTW the lad is incapable of scoring non-crackers

. (Michael B), Saturday, 22 December 2018 18:34 (five years ago) link

Utd's third goal was better :)

Number None, Saturday, 22 December 2018 18:34 (five years ago) link

When you punt it hopefully from 30 yards 183 times per match then the occasional cracker is bound to happen

Driving Drone for Christmas (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 22 December 2018 18:38 (five years ago) link

Football's Devon Malcolm imo, todays goal the equivalent of that 9 wicket demolition of South Africa at the Oval.

Number None, Saturday, 22 December 2018 19:19 (five years ago) link

calzino, Saturday, 22 December 2018 19:29 (five years ago) link

Townsend absolutely blitzed one off the bar at Anfield at the start of the season when Keita gave the ball away — I think Liverpool scored straight after it. He's always been a cut-in-and-whack-it kind of player.

That volley is an open and shut case for Goal of the Season. I literally can't think of any context-free strike being better. If he was on the half-way line that would still have gone in, that's how sweetly it was struck.

Was at Selhurst Park, not Anfield.

A lot of respect for Aduriz scoring 5-a-side penalties in a proper game.
