Anyone else have thoughts on the MMA project? I feel like I must be missing something (having watched one MMA event in my life I probably am) but the writing seems really repetitive - how often does he have to repeat some variation of “weird men with bad tattoos”? And I guess the conclusion works in a symbolic “fight the inevitable unbeatable descent into shit” sort of way but I can’t help think about the effects on that guy’s brain from going out and getting pummeled for another 5 minutes.

We discussed it a little upthread. I think some of the details are interesting but I don't think it coheres.

Xxxp yeah the historical stuff was often fascinating, I just didn’t see any criticism of it except commenters yelling about politics getting in their MMA.

I’ve only listened to a few CTH episodes but the one from a few months back with Felix going on an extended rant about the glory of the Krassenstein Bros was pretty amazing. Made it a little tougher to adjust to Serious Voice though.

Does the MMA doc have much actual fight footage in it? Because it sounds like the perfect excuse for someone like me who enjoys watching good fight footage but doesn't actually follow the sport.
