Why do people leave ILX for good?

I think I get why ppl leave ilxor for good but this is very nearly the only internet I actually like anymore and sometimes ppl smile at my posts so that’s why I stay fwiw

I've actually started to gravitate towards Reddit lately if you can believe that. If you ignore the fact they have toxic pockets theres actually some good/funny reading to be had in the TV show chats and things like legaladvice and "lol internet" subs like insanepeopleoffacebook and such.

I'm a bit over participating on the internet. Ive said all I need to say online over the last almost 20 years, and I'm a boring, middle aged stepmom now. NO one cares what I think. I'l happily read stuff from others though.

at this point I think of Facebook as an interactive RSS feed for updates from bands I like and publications I read, occasionally interspersed with good #content from friends and some adverts. But it's easy enough to block your LADbibles and whatever.

ILX has generally healthy and respectful debate - if I post something and it's nonsense and poorly thought out etc the rebuke tends to be more "nah I think you are wrong and here is why" as opposed to "you are an idiot what is wrong with you?"

its our post retirement phase i think we should enjoy it

like, after fours hours off ilx, the last thread I read will be 1/3 the way down on sna, so I click it expecting to see a handful of new answers except THERE ARE NO NEW ANSWERS

ILX has moved to Florida

People seem to congregate in a few big threads and not really post in others (I read most things on SNA, but I like where I like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and don’t have a view on some other stuff, pretty normal I’d say)

honestly twitter has sort of ruined me in terms of the constant churn micro-fascination hit i'm looking for any given second

i feel much less inclined to post here, even on things that interest me greatly. just imagine i was going thru hitting the heart button on a bunch of your posts. i miss the narrower and more established community and longer post length here but the energy isn't there to post, myself, for a bunch of reasons. (tho i did go on at length about RDR2 didn't i)

it's best when there's some event or common interest to actively discuss. The 120 songs under 120 seconds poll has been a lifesaver this past week.

Nothing wrong with short posts. I encourage anyone with the energy to write three or more paragraphs at a time during a work day to continue doing so of course but I think quippy discussions on here are grand

anyway despite years of ilx-is-dying hysteria and specific user such as imago still posting there's still some life. I'm doing my part by starting threads about things that people don't want to talk about very much and I encourage everyone to do so

This is such a buoyant and optimistic take that I can cheerfully overlook the slight on my partner. I still find miles more of interest through ILX than any other internet platform.

it's not what it used to be, that's for sure. the high school days of ilx are over. but it still beats every other place online imo, there are still a lot of great posters. and lj should be mod, yes.

i like ilx for nerding out about stuff no-one irl cares about, like pink floyd or whatever dumb podcast i like now or that one book i cant stop talking about

i also like it for politics, not to participate but reading takes from ppl here is a bit better than the swirling twitter toilet of opinion, though to be fair both have their good & bad days

I've burned out somewhat on the US politics threads. I agree with pretty much everything posted in those, but thinking about it every day is not good for my mental health
