we've been over this 100 times but ilx is just really old and mellow now which is why it's boring. ILH is still cool though

k3vin k., Saturday, 24 November 2018 02:20 (seven years ago)

it was good-boring for like 5 years, been finding it actively bad of late

flopson, Saturday, 24 November 2018 02:22 (seven years ago)

I love healthcare?

calstars, Saturday, 24 November 2018 02:24 (seven years ago)

omar little, Saturday, 24 November 2018 03:39 (seven years ago)

buzza, Saturday, 24 November 2018 03:48 (seven years ago)

I feel that ilx could be improved.

Trϵϵship, Saturday, 24 November 2018 05:23 (seven years ago)

write a memo

A is for (Aimless), Saturday, 24 November 2018 05:53 (seven years ago)

I was kidding about me! But was curious otherwise

Evan, Saturday, 24 November 2018 07:03 (seven years ago)

Excelsior, zing, pvmic, solitary posts are all dead, feels like all the posting is niche, very little communal mirth

rip van wanko, Saturday, 24 November 2018 07:13 (seven years ago)

i agree. i think is because the internet in general doesn't feel fun anymore

Trϵϵship, Saturday, 24 November 2018 07:20 (seven years ago)

fucking 21st century blows.

Elvis Telecom, Saturday, 24 November 2018 07:23 (seven years ago)

some good stuff on the dogs thread lately

eoy coming up on ILM

it's all good

and as stated ∞ times the surrounding web is now so horrible that ilx is a relative blessing

niels, Saturday, 24 November 2018 09:39 (seven years ago)

I feel too sad to click on the dogs thread after my dog had a stroke last week and had a bit of a relapse last night, during his slow recovery.

Can't complain too much about ILX, the rest of the internet is much worse.

calzino, Saturday, 24 November 2018 09:57 (seven years ago)

sad to hear that calzino, hope he/she gets well soon

niels, Saturday, 24 November 2018 10:04 (seven years ago)

ahh shit happens, he's already a year over the average age for a lab.

calzino, Saturday, 24 November 2018 10:11 (seven years ago)

sounds a bit cold, but y'know he's had a good innings.

calzino, Saturday, 24 November 2018 10:22 (seven years ago)

sounds like a good boy

niels, Saturday, 24 November 2018 11:19 (seven years ago)

even the postman was on the verge of tearing up when I told him earlier, he deffo has a bigger fan-club in the area than I do!

calzino, Saturday, 24 November 2018 11:27 (seven years ago)

an historical conclusion: all my threads are good and everyone is bad for ignoring most of them

mark s, Saturday, 24 November 2018 11:56 (seven years ago)

flopson - raise the discourse and name names!

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 24 November 2018 13:11 (seven years ago)

I think ilx is fine but I was talking about this at work with someone, I've been realizing this just how boring and shitty the internet is, like it's hard to find anything that interests me

The Poppy Bush AutoZone (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Saturday, 24 November 2018 13:28 (seven years ago)

Most of the stuff I read comes from ilx

The Poppy Bush AutoZone (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Saturday, 24 November 2018 13:28 (seven years ago)

I tell myself I'm going to stop visiting ILX at least a couple times a week, and usually it's because I want to scale back my internet use across the board. This isn't specific to ILX; it's the same with a few other sites. I don't think it's habit that keeps me here so much as that I need some kind of distraction to get through a work day.

jmm, Saturday, 24 November 2018 13:40 (seven years ago)

I mean what an I supposed to do....work?

The Poppy Bush AutoZone (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Saturday, 24 November 2018 13:42 (seven years ago)

the problem is the element of discovery or mystery is gone as all content has basically migrated to a handful of platforms. it's just boring. even often like specific thread revives, i can tell what link or tweet will have been the impetus because i'd just seen it minutes before

global tetrahedron, Saturday, 24 November 2018 16:12 (seven years ago)

that's a good point, the whole sphere is shrinking/speeding up

sleeve, Saturday, 24 November 2018 16:15 (seven years ago)

at the same time that also results in clustering of niche interests/personas which is like a weird combination of homogenization and specialization

global tetrahedron, Saturday, 24 November 2018 16:20 (seven years ago)

i miss when the internet was like 'www.jimschoepke.com' with a hit counter, his list of favorite movies, a bunch of gif links to the web rings he was in, and what cons he was attending

global tetrahedron, Saturday, 24 November 2018 16:21 (seven years ago)

internet discussion is terrible, it feels like there's no point in discussing anything. well, just politics, but fucking everything is political these days. i still love music and want to tell people about the cool stuff i've heard, but the framework just isn't there anymore. i just need to find locals to randomly text about stuff smith records, or get my uncle's cell phone number and text him about it. there's nothing on the internet that feels like it can be used to build on.
