Has there been a single episode yet this season where all the people in the titles actually appeared?

It's getting different to remember the huge influx of minor characters, and the relationships they all forged with Veronica 5 episodes ago before never being mentioned again until now. The Jewish kid and the lad who bullied him in the second episode got another mention too, so they'll be back to carry on that storyline at least 5 episodes after it was started. They should stick to a few short term story arcs that last 4 or 5 episodes instead of trying to fit so many in at the same time and jumping between them.

BAN VERONICA MARS

I think they've decided to have three major mysteries in the season, which is a lot more short-term than before. I imagine that Mac is really important in at least one of them, so they're keeping her out of the episodes where she wouldn't contribute much. I kind of like the way they have things laid out, I just wish the execution wasn't so worrying. I don't hate the new season, at least not yet, but it is making me wonder what the hell the writers are up to, and not in a good way.

clotpoll (Clotpoll), Thursday, 9 November 2006 04:29 (nineteen years ago)

It was kind of rocky there at the beginning but I think this season is beginning to gain some momentum. Definitely not as good as the first season but hey, there is always a chance that the Piz will be violently murdered.

Oct 18: i was also hoping for a lot more "Weevil & Mars Invetigates"

Typo or The Office reference?

^@^ (map), Friday, 10 November 2006 21:50 (nineteen years ago)

i've seen a few episodes of this show recently... is it anything but ZOMG!WTF! plot twists?

a name means a lot just by itself (lfam), Friday, 10 November 2006 21:54 (nineteen years ago)

wry commentary, MYSTERY!

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 10 November 2006 22:01 (nineteen years ago)

some of the jokes have been really bad this season and there are quite a lot of times where keith will just smile and put his head down... that's my biggest gripe.

second biggest is chubby, acned weevil.

CW extends Mars, One Tree Hill
College detective and teen drama get three more episodes each.

The CW network has extended the lives of two of its shows, college detective Veronica Mars and teen drama One Tree Hill. Both shows have been given orders for three more episodes apiece.

Mars has held steady since its third-season premier in October, matching its series-best ratings and retaining much of its Gilmore Girls lead-in. At the TCA in July, show-runner Rob Thomas said he was "acting like man who had been given a full season order."

Hill has seen ratings growth this season, retaining almost 90 percent of its America's Next Top Model lead-in teen audience. The show beat Fox's The O.C. last week in adults 18 to 49, with a 1.6 rating/4 share and has improved 14 percent in the demo compared to last year.

Both Mars and Hill had been on the bubble when The WB and UPN merged into The CW in the spring. Fans breathed easy when they both made the cut to the new network, but the CW hasn't broken out in the ratings as had hoped, and the shows aren't out of the woods yet.

The CW was expected to reap the rewards of having the combined fans of the highest-rated shows from each of the former networks. Instead, the new net pulls in about the same exact amount of viewers as either of those networks did by themselves.

Three episodes? Since when did networks buy in such small increments?

c('°c) (Leee), Friday, 10 November 2006 23:41 (nineteen years ago)

Speaking of WTF, I never really manage to watch this, but I was mostly just distracted by the giant Just Shoot Me reference involved in having Laura San Giacomo on that last episode. It was just ... weird.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 10 November 2006 23:46 (nineteen years ago)

There have been a ton of cameos. I'm waiting for Piven to show up.

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Friday, 10 November 2006 23:51 (nineteen years ago)

this show never used to have so many silly literary/cultural refs

this show used to have a bad theme tune then I began to like it but now it is v rubbish

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 08:08 (nineteen years ago)

and the lie abt diff, shorter, more contained, episodic story arcs

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 09:24 (nineteen years ago)

apparently there's bad blood between Piven and the show's creator.

that episode was lame.

horseshoe (horseshoe), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 04:06 (nineteen years ago)

o things were so much better in the olden days

Haikunym (Haikunym), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 04:39 (nineteen years ago)

whatever, nothing even happened!

horseshoe (horseshoe), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 04:54 (nineteen years ago)

Mystery of the week was insipid. Logan drama was lame. Vinnie and Lamb were cool, and the thing at the end was pretty creepy, but that's about it.

clotpoll (Clotpoll), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 05:21 (nineteen years ago)

Chili's on the O.C. and Veronica Mars in the same week?

svend (svend), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 05:27 (nineteen years ago)

I guess I'm in the minority in actually liking this episode!

J (Jay), Saturday, 18 November 2006 20:19 (nineteen years ago)

Needs more Mac and Wallace, wtf.

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Saturday, 18 November 2006 21:30 (nineteen years ago)

FUCKING.GREAT.EPISODE.

The quippery was fantastic, the MOTW was fun, finally some real Veronica/Logan-puppy chemistry, and PATTY HEARST.

I can't believe nobody's bothered to post about this yet.

J (Jay), Thursday, 23 November 2006 16:28 (nineteen years ago)

Plus, recreating an entire scene from "The Big Lebowski"!

J (Jay), Thursday, 23 November 2006 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

this gets worse and worse

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 23 November 2006 16:55 (nineteen years ago)

Only if you hate the shout-outs. Which you do, apparently.

J (Jay), Thursday, 23 November 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

they are incessant and bad and also the programme and characters have got bad too as well

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 23 November 2006 17:11 (nineteen years ago)

I liked this one. I'm the only person in the world who hasn't seen The Big Lebowski, so the shout-out went over my head. But it had fun Keith-Veronica interactions, and Wallace, and a nice twisty a-plot. I'm glad they finally gave the feminists some dimension, even if they're still portrayed weirdly. And Dick was hilarious. I wish they wouldn't do these "one person will DIE" promos, though.

clotpoll (Clotpoll), Thursday, 23 November 2006 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

don't know promo

wallace is being severely underused, veronica is different--she is too mean and jumps to too many stupid conclusions

didn't think it was funny, when they were laughing at the male rape (v said, at one point, that it wasn't funny or something but, at many points, joined in on the joking)

also...nothing is happening! meanwhile, this season story arc, that we were told would be played down or less important, trudges on, v slowly and boringly

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 23 November 2006 19:23 (nineteen years ago)

it's been extended to 20 episodes now.

the pacing this season has been odd (i'm chalking at least part of it up to the unsureness-of-its-future that torpedoed arrested development's third season) but shit, it's still miles and miles better than gilmore girls this season.

maura (maura), Thursday, 23 November 2006 19:30 (nineteen years ago)

I have never seen gilmore girls

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 23 November 2006 19:46 (nineteen years ago)

two months pass...
New episode tonight? Does anyone still care?

milo z (mlp), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 20:50 (nineteen years ago)

duh

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 20:56 (nineteen years ago)

i probably shouldn't, but i do. it's still better than studio 60 and i'll watch that, so...

tonight is a mac heavy episode, so that's a plus.

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 21:02 (nineteen years ago)

this has been off for months, so long I even forgot that I watched it

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 21:28 (nineteen years ago)

Long hiatuses suck. All shows should follow the HBO/24 model of a straight run with no interruptions or reruns.

milo z (mlp), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 21:30 (nineteen years ago)

uh the sopranos has been on hiatus for like 8 months now dude!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 21:38 (nineteen years ago)

Two separate seasons, according to them. I quit watching after the gay Soprano got wacked so I don't know if they last shown episode was a legit finale.

milo z (mlp), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 21:41 (nineteen years ago)

actually it's all season six. part one and part two.

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 21:43 (nineteen years ago)

TOLD

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 21:45 (nineteen years ago)

me, pwned. I thought they were calling the Sopranos and Entourage separate seasons.

milo z (mlp), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 21:54 (nineteen years ago)

entourage might be... it really have been two different sopranos but then they would've had to write a competent season finale.

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 22:01 (nineteen years ago)

"really should have"

i should write a competent sentence.

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 22:03 (nineteen years ago)

You haterz will be glad to know that March through May, our favorite plucky blond girl detective will be pre-empted by Pussycat Dolls: The Search for the Next Doll for 8 weeks.

c(°°c) (Leee), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 22:59 (nineteen years ago)

fuck. does that mean we'll get less than 22 episodes for the season?

horseshoe (horseshoe), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 23:06 (nineteen years ago)

They only gave it 20 episodes instead of 22, so apparently they're abandoning the third mystery arc and instead are just having five stand-alone episodes to finish off the season. Kind of a let-down, really.

The Ultimate Conclusion (lokar), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 23:09 (nineteen years ago)

kind of a bad sign. :(

horseshoe (horseshoe), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 23:10 (nineteen years ago)

okay, I seriously don't understand the pacing of this show. are Veronica and Logan going to break up and get back together every alternate episode?

Mac-y O!
