I think it's time NHL culture recognizes ex-players usually make for terrible GMs.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 27 November 2018 02:55 (seven years ago)

idk -- stevie y and jim rutherford have done okay. being a good GM is hard, especially in the salary cap era, and i'm not sure ex-players are *necessarily* worse at it. i'll grant that the skills that made them good players don't correlate much, though

mookieproof, Tuesday, 27 November 2018 03:31 (seven years ago)

Brian McClellan too

he just looked like he is about to melt into a puddle of grey schmutz at, like, 930PM

@RickCarpiniello - funny story from last night’s game. Guy sitting next to penalty box was lighting up Sid all game with some fantastic chirps. A trainer delivered this to him after the final buzzer. pic.twitter.com/4DZf9ZtlxF

- rick nash has retired due to continuing concussion symptoms

- the caps have won 14 straight against the bruins

- tampa bay is really good

mookieproof, Friday, 11 January 2019 15:16 (seven years ago)

That sucks about Nash. I mean he had a long career but you never want to see a guy have to retire for that.

husked, tonal wails (irrational), Friday, 11 January 2019 15:53 (seven years ago)

As a long suffering Islanders fan, very happy to see them go on this 15-3 run and into 1st place.

Toronto has too many hockey players and not enough goalies —- so there’s a booming market of “rental goalies” (who make about $50 a game).

two weeks pass...

a) it is bullshit that we are never ever going to get a habs-leafs playoff series

b) excited for columbus to go all in and miss the playoffs

c) it will be amazing when tampa somehow doesn't win the cup despite being clearly miles and kilometers better than everyone

d) lololol at the sens firing guy boucher because they didn't like 'how the team was trending'

e) western conference go jettts and/or flaaames

f) jesus christ oilers

mookieproof, Saturday, 2 March 2019 03:38 (seven years ago)

toews ended up having a very strong season offensively but was unable to will his team to the playoffs; is he really, therefore, a winner? NEXT on Coach's Corner

lol good canadian boys are exempt from having their leadership questioned

Jeff Bathos (symsymsym), Thursday, 4 April 2019 04:09 (seven years ago)

dallas RW valeri nichushkin is two games away from going the entire season without scoring a goal or taking a penalty; he's played in 57 games averaging 11:55 of ice time

will he put a puck over the glass in these two games y/n

mookieproof, Friday, 5 April 2019 20:06 (seven years ago)

Lol, how is that even possible? Just like the most ineffectual season of all time.

Mazzy Tsar (PBKR), Friday, 5 April 2019 22:49 (seven years ago)

Poehling having second-best NHL debut in history makes a real satisfying ending to an up/down Montreal season.
