reported a white supremacist for telling me Jews caused all current problems, I'm fighting on their behalf, and he'll be seeing me thru his ar15 sight. got response stating it didn't violate Twitter rules. cool cool.

I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Wednesday, 31 October 2018 17:51 (seven years ago)

*tweets "please kick off the nazis" ad nauseum for two years*

Biz: Oh good, they're saying 'please' more often!

fred-a van vleet (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 31 October 2018 18:16 (seven years ago)

We reviewed more than 4000 of bombing suspect Cesar Sayok’s tweets. We found more than 240 threats at 50 different people, news organizations, reporters, and celebrities.

We found a mind corrupted by right wing conspiracy theories of every sort.https://t.co/lzpDOnO9Fa

mookieproof, Thursday, 15 November 2018 19:37 (seven years ago)

that's pretty great.

i just deactivated my account. the site really caters to the bad, dumb bit of my brain and just feeds me rage. it's the first social media thing i ever ended up actively hooked on and I'm going to try and read during the times i would have reached for my phone

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Friday, 16 November 2018 23:58 (seven years ago)

I've navigated to the website twice since i posted that

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Saturday, 17 November 2018 00:04 (seven years ago)

I admit I'm addicted to Twitter, but I do think you can manipulate your user experience there to be something you like

Dan S, Saturday, 17 November 2018 00:10 (seven years ago)

that's quite possible but the addiction to a website/app is something i find sufficiently deleterious or alarming regardless of the experience with the thing itself.

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Saturday, 17 November 2018 00:26 (seven years ago)

stay strong jim

#BreakingTheWorld (sleeve), Saturday, 17 November 2018 01:00 (seven years ago)

yea i've been halfheartedly trying to quit for a while.. internet is kind of awkward without twitter though, it's weird like, going to websites

flopson, Saturday, 17 November 2018 01:00 (seven years ago)

ive been thinking about deactivating for a while. it's a miserable place where people act small and petty, sanctimonious, unreflective, uncharitable. there are things about it that work but it also brings out terrible qualities in people. every time i go on it i feel irritated by what i see.

marcos, Saturday, 17 November 2018 01:45 (seven years ago)

after 8 years I still don't "get" twitter and that's probably a good thing. it seems like either opinions4u or 'look how I zinged this famous/semifamous person' but I have zero confidence in the accuracy of that appraisal

rip van wanko, Saturday, 17 November 2018 03:01 (seven years ago)

oh and then there's weird twitter but I never found one account I really jived with there either

rip van wanko, Saturday, 17 November 2018 03:03 (seven years ago)

dril is the best tweeter

lag∞n, Saturday, 17 November 2018 03:14 (seven years ago)

I might get the dril book, I don’t much care for websites these days

I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Saturday, 17 November 2018 03:17 (seven years ago)

21st savagery fox (m bison), Saturday, 17 November 2018 03:24 (seven years ago)

Arts/science/professional/straightlaced twitter can be great of course. Sports too but how you filter your feed into something digestible and good I have no idea

xp yeah. I wish I knew how to do that!

rip van wanko, Saturday, 17 November 2018 03:27 (seven years ago)

yeah you just gotta engage selectively it’s not that hard

your twitter acct is almost old enough to start its own account

21st savagery fox (m bison), Saturday, 17 November 2018 14:57 (seven years ago)

I was just thinking, it's amazing you were able to secure your own .com and @

rip van wanko, Saturday, 17 November 2018 15:00 (seven years ago)

i bought maura.com in 1996!

maura, Saturday, 17 November 2018 15:55 (seven years ago)

My boss has a two-letter Twitter handle. He tries not to get too smug about it.

pplains, Saturday, 17 November 2018 16:40 (seven years ago)

People with short Twitter names get loads of junk and misdirected @ mentions so it's not such a great thing

Alba, Saturday, 17 November 2018 17:36 (seven years ago)

You're so jealous.

pplains, Saturday, 17 November 2018 17:47 (seven years ago)

:-D

pplains, Saturday, 17 November 2018 17:47 (seven years ago)

i actually don’t get that very much anymore

maura, Saturday, 17 November 2018 21:15 (seven years ago)

I'm pretty happy passing along art pics and funny non sequiturs, the rest I can leave. I try to not retweet political stuff anymore.

Good for you. I actually deleted Twitter from my phone yesterday morning for similar reasons. I'm looking at it as a hiatus rather than a permanent break, but I need to get out of the habit. I'm using Nuzzle to catch up with all the articles that people are tweeting about, without actually seeing the tweets.

jaymc, Saturday, 17 November 2018 22:00 (seven years ago)

I accidentally locked myself out of my twitter account and can't be bothered going through the rigmarole of getting back into it so that's one way to kick it

single bed mentality (||||||||), Saturday, 17 November 2018 22:07 (seven years ago)

jaymc good at Twitter imo

flopson, Saturday, 17 November 2018 22:50 (seven years ago)

Can some of you folks add me? Or post your @s please.

I'm @critterjams and I RT a lot of good stuff

Twitter & Reddit are both really shitty in general but you can definitely curate it into something good if you follow the right accounts/subs. coincidentally basketball Twitter and basketball Reddit are both awesome

frogbs, Monday, 19 November 2018 16:22 (seven years ago)

four weeks pass...

there should be a term for big accounts where 90% of their tweets are them quote tweeting rando haters in their replies? have unfollowed so many otherwise good accounts for this. prob most regrettable is tressie maccotam. most recently celeb chef Kenji Lopez. it's like a mania imo

flopson, Monday, 17 December 2018 04:12 (seven years ago)

lol yeah I think Al Roker is like that too

flappy bird, Monday, 17 December 2018 04:15 (seven years ago)

tressiemc is still a good follow! dont think thats a fair description tbh (altho obv thats your prerogative to not read her if the amount she does of this sort is still more than your liking, but idk...)

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 17 December 2018 04:48 (seven years ago)

lag∞n, Monday, 17 December 2018 04:57 (seven years ago)

21st savagery fox (m bison), Monday, 17 December 2018 05:00 (seven years ago)

Clay, Monday, 17 December 2018 05:01 (seven years ago)
