MAGAs making much hay about how Republican early turnout in FL is significantly higher than Democratic; Nate Silver says it doesn't matter because we don't have enough data about who votes early to say what it all means. Anybody wanna make me feel better about how the election's gonna go?

They were all straight dem ticket voters amirite

pundits were talking about what a bloodbath 2016 was gonna be for Hillary cos early voting numbers, by party, were significantly higher than Republicans in key areas. don't have to remind us all what happened in the end - flawed rubric cos they don't know HOW people voted, so they just assume a one-to-one match between party and vote, which of course often isn't the case...people like my father register one way decades ago and who knows if they still vote that way.

Likewise, the House is where the wave is likely to occur, and you can only vote for people in yr own district, so who knows, higher turnout in the state doesn't necessarily translate to more house seats.

I'm with Nate - I think it's a flawed means of determining anything, it's noise.

It means nothing. Unless we know how the early voting patterns usually are in Florida, and unless we know how independents will break, then it means nothing. And even then it would kinda mean nothing. It's just not interesting data on it's own.

Checking out early voting data from 2014 in Florida, and they're kinda like this. It tells us nothing, perhaps the weather has been better in rural parts of the state or something.

Dems lose, Trump is elected again. In 6 years Dems get the White House again and fail to do anything meaningful. There is no end. Voting won’t save us now. Everyone vote, but it’s not going to make a difference.
