I wonder if the people who are tasked with rebooting a franchise strategize about what they can do to ease the undertaking of whoever will, within the next half decade, be tasked with rebooting their reboot. Like you don't want your reboot to be too good or overly-ambitious because that would be unfair to the journeyman director who will be reshaping your reshaped vision but whose experience in the industry at this point is limited to a few episodes of Blue Bloods.

i am kind of surprised that they're taking another shot at this considering what a disaster the first movie was. i am guessing they had margot robbie contractually obligated to do a sequel, kind of like how Elektra happened.

the first one made three quarters of a billion dollars on a reported budget of $175m, so even factoring in marketing etc it probably still turned enough of a profit to make a sequel make sense

also i guess the studio is betting a lot on getting that authentic james gunn magic this time around after very much failing to emulate it in the first one

Jai Courtney is impressive in that he is the least memorable person in the universe. I've seen several movies where I know he had a decent part and I remember the character existing but I'll be damned if I could tell you what he or the characters he played looked like. It takes special skill to be more anonymous than Sam Worthington, IMO.

there haven't really been good superhero cartoons since the Batman ones from the 90's/2000's. A bit surprised at the cursing in this one. where is this running? on a channel absolutely no one watches?

maybe; I think she was the only well received part of the first movie (so I gather, I didn't watch it) and they're also giving her her own movie (Birds of Prey).
