We'll see. I say, let's have a blue wave, and people can decide for themselves how they like the results.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:27 (seven years ago)

all of you assholes should be sitting down to pee.

Yerac, Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:29 (seven years ago)

Pelosi's getting a bunch of airtime in Texas because a conservative PAC is running an attack ad claiming Dem Congressional candidate Lizzie Fletcher is her puppet.

Ubering With The King (C. Grisso/McCain), Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:30 (seven years ago)

Pelosi has explicitly stated she's going to do jack diddly shit about Trump or Kavanaugh.

Why people place hopes and dreams on this "blue wave", must be an escapist fantasy born out of fatalism.

The conservative PAC shit is no different than this: establishment Democrats are the colmes to the GOP's Hannity.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:34 (seven years ago)

Hot take.

Van Horn Street, Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:35 (seven years ago)

scorching

21st savagery fox (m bison), Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:35 (seven years ago)

It's not really a scorching take to pay attention to the positions people take in public.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:36 (seven years ago)

I see.

I like queer. You like queer, senator? (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:45 (seven years ago)

i don't imagine anyone is expecting any form of blue wave to usher in any kind of progressive utopia, certainly not while trump is president. stopping the bleeding for two years would by itself mean massive improvements in millions of people's lives. so cool it with the hot takes, brett kavanaugh is on the fucking supreme court and everything is fucking terrible.

El Tomboto, Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:51 (seven years ago)

I'm on board with the outrage, just not sure we can expect to immediately replace Pelosi/Schumer. I've lived in SF since Nancy Pelosi first ran for congress. I've met her personally. She has been the only viable candidate in 24 consecutive elections I have vote in. She's been an amazing speaker of the house. She is an incredible fundraiser. She is old and doesn't have the most progressive platform, but as Aimless said she will hold the caucus together, and that's what's important. I'm not going to vote for Lisa Remmer the republican this time out of spite.

Dan S, Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:55 (seven years ago)

I know my own utopian idealistic stances are unrealistic, I'm just shooting the shit here on an anonymous (???) messageboard. No trolling here.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 00:57 (seven years ago)

I expect some people are tired of unrealistic stances when shit like what happened today happens.

well I guess I can't argue with that

Dan S, Sunday, 7 October 2018 01:18 (seven years ago)

I do feel like time is running out

Dan S, Sunday, 7 October 2018 01:22 (seven years ago)

dan_theman I think this message board is a safe place to post, it's anonymous if you want to be anonymous

Dan S, Sunday, 7 October 2018 02:13 (seven years ago)

ilx is safe enough, if all you want to do is post and be anonymous while doing so. But if you think you'll get any respect for "shooting the shit", you will find that such respect is not forthcoming. On the contrary.

A is for (Aimless), Sunday, 7 October 2018 04:23 (seven years ago)

This message board is filled with well-informed, smart, tasteful people. Most of whom are also abrasive jerks. I’ve been here for years and I rarely post.

DJI, Sunday, 7 October 2018 04:25 (seven years ago)

Happy Thanksgiving

jmm, Sunday, 7 October 2018 04:58 (seven years ago)

DNC and GOP are the same party. No difference between the two, which is verifiable through hard facts.

The people who tell you otherwise, like Alfred, etc., here, are people who don't understand the gun that's to the back of their necks and don't appreciate the trigger that's going to be pulled on them.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:03 (seven years ago)

I'm the guy with the finger on the trigger to people like Alfred Soto whatever, so what the hell do I care. Blammo.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:04 (seven years ago)

wow, nailed it

mookieproof, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:05 (seven years ago)

I just find it funny morons like Alfred and El_tomboto support people who want to kill them. Morons.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:05 (seven years ago)

i miss the days when i didn't recognize sockpuppets on impact

Karl Malone, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:06 (seven years ago)

You dudes don't want to hear the truth, because it makes you poop your pants, when you see actual facts confirm it over and over again. I'm disappearing into the shadows where I belong. Seeyah.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:07 (seven years ago)

it's not that we don't want to hear the truth, it's because we're afraid of it. because it's too close to what we love. whoa

Karl Malone, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:09 (seven years ago)

b-b-b-but dan_theman promised he wasn't trolling!

A is for (Aimless), Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:09 (seven years ago)

Cool. Yeah, this is so dumb and trolly, but the whole “GOP and DEMS are just two puppets held up by the same man, maaaan” shit is still something I get from some hard left acquaintances and it’s so fucking useless considering the immediate reality of what’s happening right now and what options we have.

really cool to hear from a poster with "the man" as part of his handle that as a gay Hispanic man I don't "understand the gun that's to the back" of my neck and doesn't appreciate "the the trigger that's going to be pulled" on me.

You like queer? I like queer. Still like queer. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:33 (seven years ago)

I'm a drunk crazy weirdo, ignore everything I'm saying here.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:35 (seven years ago)

Not like i have to tell ya!

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:36 (seven years ago)

Boy oh boy am I a weirdo with no credibility. All I care about is making a good paycheck. So be it.

dan_theman, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:37 (seven years ago)

thought you were leaving there bud

montoya (Ross), Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:40 (seven years ago)

hmmmm. this dan_theman guy is starting to sound familiar. like another guy who's been banned twice already. or is it three times now?

A is for (Aimless), Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:47 (seven years ago)

Yet, everything this banned guy was banned for has come true beyond expectations.

If you're as sharp as you all think you are, why dart and dodge what you know as truth? Just be honest with yourselves and join me.

Karl Malone, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:52 (seven years ago)

it's not about being sharp for me, it's just fucking lame to call people morons. this is hopeless anyway, like a badminton match for one against a fucking wall

montoya (Ross), Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:52 (seven years ago)

that is unfair to badminton against a wall, which is invigorating

Karl Malone, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:57 (seven years ago)

Is the consensus now that GOP will retain congress? That they calculated that the Kavanaugh case was a vote winner for them not a vote loser? if so that makes the extra weeks investigation an extra weeks time to get their voters riled up. the 'blue wave' seems a bit uncertain?

anvil, Sunday, 7 October 2018 05:59 (seven years ago)

i'm really not sure about the overall effect of the kavanaugh confirmation on the midterms. before it happened, it seemed like the democrats were sailing toward taking over the house, and possibly even the senate. in the midst of it, when a delayed vote until after the midterms seemed possible (kavanaugh dropping out and someone else being nominated but voted on until after elections), it seemed like that would really motivate republican voters to show up and alter the presumptions. but now, after kavanaugh has been confirmed, and what's left is a bunch of democratic voters that are fucking pissed? i think we'll need to wait a week or so and see how the momentum shifts.

Karl Malone, Sunday, 7 October 2018 06:03 (seven years ago)

Agreed, if its shifted a bunch recently it can shift a bunch again. I cant tell if this was part of plan or not, to keep this in news cycle seemed dumb at first, then smart, and now Ive no idea, maybe neither - but I could see the rationale behind it, especially if most of the seats up for re-election are D

anvil, Sunday, 7 October 2018 06:11 (seven years ago)

the kavanaugh confirmation is more brutal than most democratic voters realize, though. the benefit of gaining a democratic majority is to change/update the laws of the land. the republicans just landed control of the supreme court for the next decade or two, at least. i guess it's rude to talk about when they'll die, but of the conservative jsutices, clarence thomas is the oldest, and he's 70. alito is 68. it's going to be bullshit 5-4's for a very long time. and that means that even if something like medicare for all becomes the law of the land, it could very well be temporary. it's important to vote this november, duh, and it would be helpful to help check the power of literally the dumbest person in the entire world, donald trump, but if left-leaning voters knew how fucked we are, many of them wouldn't bother voting.
