imo the strategy behind this grandstanding is not just Collins's, it's the party's. by having a woman put the seal of approval on the confirmation, they hope to 'soften' the collateral damage among women voters.

I can only hope that the contempt expressed toward the American public as symbolized by votes to confirm Kavanaugh are met with responses which are proportionately contemptuous. May the American public get real creative with the range of available options for expressing their own contempt.
