All these assholes, from Flake to Collins, they seem to recognize that we live in remarkable, unprecedented times, then they vote and operate as if we are not teetering on the brink.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:19 (seven years ago)

just announce your intention to vote for the sexual assaulter and fuck off

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:20 (seven years ago)

This Kav guy seems OK! Very reasonable.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:20 (seven years ago)

We should give him a chance.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:21 (seven years ago)

sometimes they seem to resent the rest of everything else, institution and party and opposing party and the times, forcing them into being consequential rather than just being able to make safe votes their whole careers

so they defiantly make 'principled' safe votes in order to stake a claim for the lost values rather than making any votes in favor of the things actually at stake

j., Friday, 5 October 2018 19:21 (seven years ago)

Listening now, sounds like Kav is actually a hero. We should have more fair and flexible intellects like him.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:22 (seven years ago)

Who’s going to tell Susan Collins that “special interests” and “dark money” argued over Kavanaugh on both sides.

This is like the world's longest social studies book report

rob, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:23 (seven years ago)

hey I know we deleted my posts from this morning where I brainstormed some fun ideas but I kind of have a few more right now

This sounds like someone who was yes from moment 1.

I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:24 (seven years ago)

fun, wholesome, and legal ideas for having fun with republican senators

I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:25 (seven years ago)

i guess it's kind of comforting to know for sure that trump could've nominated a literal piece of dogshit and it would get 50 votes to confirm

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:25 (seven years ago)

So much settled law, why even have a court?

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:26 (seven years ago)

is there gonna be a midpoint in this speech

'that being said…'

j., Friday, 5 October 2018 19:26 (seven years ago)

I hope I have the sense to emigrate to Israel before the pogroms start

I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:26 (seven years ago)

as a goof!

omar little, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:26 (seven years ago)

WAS there significant money spent opposing Kavanaugh? I saw pro-Kavanaugh TV commercials from the Judicial Whatever Network but I don't know about the other side.

evol j, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:27 (seven years ago)

the fun thing is we have no way of knowing

I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:27 (seven years ago)

I think I might be ready for a purge. I'm pretty nimble and willing to take my chances.

Yerac, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:28 (seven years ago)

Kavanaugh, such an underdog

never have i been a blue calm sea (collardio gelatinous), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:28 (seven years ago)

I'm a tiny bit cheered by the idea of Collins making this Very Important Speech affirming her loyalty to her party's intellectual and spiritual leader, Donald J Trump, and meanwhile he watches it for about 90 seconds, groans "BORRRRRRRING" and pops in his VHS of Bloodsport.

evol j, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:31 (seven years ago)

lol

You like queer? I like queer. Still like queer. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:31 (seven years ago)

I hope the voters of Maine turn against her en masse and her governor-ship dreams go in the tank as a result cuz this is the lamest kind of grandstanding

Οὖτις, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:32 (seven years ago)

OK she really believes because Garland and Kav voted 90 percent of the time that it's worth a mention. Most SCOTUS cases are unanimous!

You like queer? I like queer. Still like queer. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:32 (seven years ago)

I'm told Maine is mostly inbred lobstermen so who knows xp

I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:32 (seven years ago)

like, why did she position herself this way, what does she gain from it, when so many of us suspected her yes vote was a foregone conclusion for months

xp

Οὖτις, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:32 (seven years ago)

she gains attention

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:33 (seven years ago)

she probably thinks she does nothing and the world is just a whirlwind of speculation around her

j., Friday, 5 October 2018 19:33 (seven years ago)

too bad Maine's current governor is a festering toad.

evol j, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:33 (seven years ago)

she wanted this big opportunity to shine in the spotlight to accomplish... what exactly? handing Trump a Supreme Court that will protect him?

Οὖτις, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:33 (seven years ago)

Well, that fund for whoever her opponent is just got past $2 million now.

Yerac, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:34 (seven years ago)

maybe she wants to be vice president

j., Friday, 5 October 2018 19:34 (seven years ago)

Maybe she should just sit at home and darn socks like a good little woman.

Yerac, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:35 (seven years ago)

gang rape allegation is "OUTLANDISH" and put forward without any evidence...which is why they decided to not investigate it at all

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:35 (seven years ago)

I DEFINITELY believe her...but also she's a liar

Number None, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:36 (seven years ago)

oh my fucking god she's repeating FOX talking points

You like queer? I like queer. Still like queer. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:36 (seven years ago)

I don't think you can be a republican otherwise?

Yerac, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:37 (seven years ago)

collins believes ford, believes that she is a survivor and that her life was changed by this assault

HERE COMES THE 'NEVERTHELESS' WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR

nevertheless her claims can't be corroborated by the 4 people there that evening! so collins must believe that ford was mistaken in believing 100 fucking percent that it was Kavanaugh

jfc, fuck off collins

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:37 (seven years ago)

Collins will face an uphill battle in her pursuit of the vice presidency once the SC rules women unconstitutional.

Werther Down the Spiral (Old Lunch), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:38 (seven years ago)

this stuff about the assault claims is really horrible. she doesn't deserve to have a platform ever again

Dan S, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:38 (seven years ago)

this is pretty fucked up

rob, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:38 (seven years ago)

white women are embarrassing and i’m embarrassed to be one

maura, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:39 (seven years ago)

so are Cuban women

You like queer? I like queer. Still like queer. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:40 (seven years ago)

imo the strategy behind this grandstanding is not just Collins's, it's the party's. by having a woman put the seal of approval on the confirmation, they hope to 'soften' the collateral damage among women voters.

never have i been a blue calm sea (collardio gelatinous), Friday, 5 October 2018 19:42 (seven years ago)

trying to close the book on it

j., Friday, 5 October 2018 19:42 (seven years ago)

xp agree, and giving this speech with two women republican senators standing behind her.

Dan S, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:43 (seven years ago)

don't get the wrong idea, though, everyone: Collins is a big supporter of #metoo, and she has a special message for survivors:

"i pledge to do all that i can to ensure that their daughters and granddaughters never share their experiences."

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:43 (seven years ago)

if only she was something she could do, right now, hmmmmmm

Karl Malone, Friday, 5 October 2018 19:43 (seven years ago)
