I'm a tiny bit cheered by the idea of Collins making this Very Important Speech affirming her loyalty to her party's intellectual and spiritual leader, Donald J Trump, and meanwhile he watches it for about 90 seconds, groans "BORRRRRRRING" and pops in his VHS of Bloodsport.

imo the strategy behind this grandstanding is not just Collins's, it's the party's. by having a woman put the seal of approval on the confirmation, they hope to 'soften' the collateral damage among women voters.
