Adam Scott is so good at playing Earth Trevor that I literally want to strangle him.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 5 October 2018 03:11 (seven years ago)

but his memes are so dank...

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Friday, 5 October 2018 03:15 (seven years ago)

this episode was bloody fantastic, except clearly they have no idea whatsoever what australia is or how it works

calamity gammon (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 5 October 2018 04:45 (seven years ago)

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 5 October 2018 05:11 (seven years ago)

Yeah I was cringeing a little at the accents but they werent as hideous as they could have been... couldnt they just have used Aus actors though?

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Friday, 5 October 2018 06:11 (seven years ago)

(straight up, the only person I have EVER heard to a passable aus accent who isnt australian, is Paul Whitehouse).

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Friday, 5 October 2018 06:12 (seven years ago)

Sophie Okonedo can too

Mince Pramthwart (James Morrison), Friday, 5 October 2018 07:34 (seven years ago)

That was good.

Leaghaidh am brón an t-anam bochd (dowd), Friday, 5 October 2018 08:30 (seven years ago)

princess of hell (BradNelson), Friday, 5 October 2018 23:16 (seven years ago)

tbf to Ted Danson, his accent is purposely horrible.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 5 October 2018 23:19 (seven years ago)

I know “CHOCOLATE BOOK by Tay Zonday” was a throwaway gag but it had me rolling.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Saturday, 6 October 2018 06:33 (seven years ago)

by “the pilot” i meant the first episode of this season, shut up aa

episodes 1 and 2 aired b2b in the US, shut up AA

The show’s idea of Australia is way less accurate than the America-themed restaurant is at depicting America

Until the Brexit etc jokes I was convinced that this had to be in purpose, and leading to a reveal that they’re not really on earth, and it’s a fake Australia that doesn’t make any sense for in-story reasons

I baste my thigh, gent (sic), Saturday, 6 October 2018 09:35 (seven years ago)

calamity gammon (Autumn Almanac), Saturday, 6 October 2018 11:13 (seven years ago)

yeah netflix does that with hourlong premieres of half hour shows a lot

maura, Saturday, 6 October 2018 12:40 (seven years ago)

it's also a single unit on hulu

princess of hell (BradNelson), Saturday, 6 October 2018 12:42 (seven years ago)

This week's one was much funnier IMO

Which is a relief as I'm not sure I could take it right now if this show started to suck

Chuck_Tatum, Saturday, 6 October 2018 14:03 (seven years ago)

this show is millennia away from sucking

calamity gammon (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 7 October 2018 01:31 (seven years ago)

People who complained about the first episode and a half forget how the wire was constructed

kinder, Monday, 8 October 2018 21:16 (seven years ago)

Seeing Sean as Birdie's butler on G.L.O.W. was such cognitive dissonance; I kept waiting to see Bash get cocooned

Jaq, Monday, 8 October 2018 23:01 (seven years ago)

hi jaq!

mookieproof, Monday, 8 October 2018 23:14 (seven years ago)

Haven't loved either of the new episodes. I fear this show peaked in its first season.

yeah I'm hoping they actually go to jacksonville next ep

officer sonny bonds, lytton pd (mayor jingleberries), Friday, 12 October 2018 17:00 (seven years ago)

Four episodes in, they finally hire at least two, maybe three Australian accents to play Australians; they still don't bother to ask them what anything looks like or how anything works in Sydney.

(The barista selling lottery tickets [???!?!?!] was the first voice I perked up at: immediately after commenting that he sounded legit, the next new character onscreen was played by a guy I worked with at a bookshop 18 years ago [and went to see a play he was in once])

My Gig: The Thin Beast (sic), Friday, 12 October 2018 17:21 (seven years ago)

YouTube_-_funy_cats.flv (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 12 October 2018 22:08 (seven years ago)

australians do apparently

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Friday, 12 October 2018 22:13 (seven years ago)

americans don't even care to know anything about neighboring canada why would you expect them to care about accurately depicting australia?

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Friday, 12 October 2018 22:14 (seven years ago)

australians *super* do

i have learned over time since moving to the US that it is definitely a HUGE hobbyhorse for
a) australians consuming american tv back home & b) new immigrants or temporary visitors from aus

*very* protective of our portrayal in the media
also: place names

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 12 October 2018 22:19 (seven years ago)

australians are mostly portrayed in american tv shows as americans (ask anna torv, simon baker, hemsworth # 3, etc.)

voodoo chili, Friday, 12 October 2018 22:32 (seven years ago)

Is there not a function on Twitter where you can block anyone putting *that* emoji between words? It's one of the surest signs of fuckwittery. https://t.co/guy9eS9YY7

I like the way this show never uses an excuse to pad or rest on its laurels. Most shows, with a promising set-up like Trevor the demon antagonising everyone, would let it run for a few episodes to squeeze out every last limp laugh, but this show resets the format almost every episode.

Mince Pramthwart (James Morrison), Friday, 12 October 2018 23:39 (seven years ago)

lol heirbnb

princess of hell (BradNelson), Friday, 12 October 2018 23:50 (seven years ago)

i literally came here to say ^that ffs brad haha

imago, Saturday, 13 October 2018 00:28 (seven years ago)

instead i will say that i hope every episode this season features ted danson's australian accent

imago, Saturday, 13 October 2018 00:29 (seven years ago)

well that aus weekly cover turned out to be important.

"that's not a jackpot, THIS is a jackpot" at the cafe.

I was dreading exactly that, to the "will the rest of this series be worth watching?" levels. So good.
