I mean like y'know, it's ok, it's pretty funny I guess, it's not as funny as like Nathan Barley or Saxondale or something but it's better than Black Books
― Glans Christian Christian christian Christian Andersen (MPx4A), Thursday, 2 October 2008 13:26 (seventeen years ago)
Oh yeah, a few weeks ago they taped an episode in the neighborhood where I live ... a bunch of signs were posted about it. So who knows, you mgiht see the mysterious burt_stanton walking in the background!
― burt_stanton, Thursday, 2 October 2008 13:29 (seventeen years ago)
It is NOT better than Black Books.
― Niles Caulder, Thursday, 2 October 2008 13:32 (seventeen years ago)
I don't think this show is that funny, what episode should I watch to be convinced that it is that funny?
I find it to be accumulatively funny, the more you get to know each characters' little ticks and quirks the better it gets.
Also, give this a shot:

Yeah really. And mostly they're kinda dicks, always making other people set them up for punchlines and shit
― Niles Caulder, Friday, 3 October 2008 02:26 (seventeen years ago)
wait what? how does that work
― t_g, Friday, 3 October 2008 08:15 (seventeen years ago)
They maintain a nonresponsive facade in response to increasingly excited attempts to get them to react, until such time as they can deliver an hilarious riposte. It is annoying. It's always girls they do it to, too. I don't know if I can explain it properly but it's kinda nasty to see, and it's ALWAYS guys like this. It's kinda an arrogant version of faux-naif type stuff.
― Niles Caulder, Friday, 3 October 2008 08:31 (seventeen years ago)
Not that I have any idea if the FOTC guys're like this so I shouldn't have mentioned it really

yeah i dont understand. at first you said 'there's alot of guys like this in NZ' and now it's 'i dont know if they're like this'. did you just say it cuz they're from nz?
― t_g, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:23 (seventeen years ago)
pappawheelie OTM ie H&O. Doesn't seem that much of a coincidence anymore that Daryl Hall made a cameo last season.
― ☑ (Pleasant Plains), Friday, 3 October 2008 15:47 (seventeen years ago)
wow, I have the first season on DVD, not done watching yet, but daryl hall is like my hero... did he have his trademark mustache? is second season on yet?
― CaptainLorax, Friday, 3 October 2008 15:58 (seventeen years ago)
Oates has the moustache. I question your devotion to Daryl Hall.
― Trip Maker, Friday, 3 October 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)
oh yeah, got them flipped, I have a hangover
― CaptainLorax, Friday, 3 October 2008 16:10 (seventeen years ago)
kinda sucks. they're really good guitar players though!!
lol
― Matt P, Saturday, 4 October 2008 12:24 (seventeen years ago)
about two clips from the whole show aren't terrible. the jokes are awful, and the 'lol random!!' thing gets boring really quickly.

The songs are not very good.
The manager is funny.

What is the "lol random" thing in this show?
― Trayce, Sunday, 5 October 2008 22:43 (seventeen years ago)
I don't know if there is a lol random thing to this show but the humor is you either get it or you don't.
and obviously if you don't think it's funny, your sense of humor is inferior to that of us elitists.let me rephrase that. uhh. anyone not like futurama? you suck.
― CaptainLorax, Sunday, 5 October 2008 23:38 (seventeen years ago)
well maybe not suck.. I meant to say, you should hang out with people that have similar humor to you, and I will hang out with people who have similar humor to me. but don't cross the line. you wouldn't understand funny if it bit you in jewels.
― CaptainLorax, Sunday, 5 October 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)
I was wrong about this show, it rules!!
― A B C, Monday, 6 October 2008 00:51 (seventeen years ago)
I got into it late as well, I dig it.
don't really dig Bret tho
― wilter, Monday, 6 October 2008 00:53 (seventeen years ago)
I thank god every day that another antipodean singysongy comedy group - Tripod - didn't wind up with a succesful american tv show. those guys are srs cunts.

I like the fake NZ PSA for phones:

― schwantz, Monday, 6 October 2008 02:18 (seventeen years ago)
I was watching the last episode and thinking that Jemaine was way way funnier (and hotttter~) than Bret, but then Bret broke out into the angry dance and there were lols.
― A B C, Monday, 6 October 2008 03:37 (seventeen years ago)

I still think one of the most surprising things about this show is how easily it manages to make New York look nice. There are parts of the first few episodes where it's all golden-glowy downtown summer streets better than any picturesque NYC film I've ever seen.
― nabisco, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 19:34 (seventeen years ago)
man they should just get rid of the band and have the show be all murray imo
― cankles, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 19:57 (seventeen years ago)
Ha, okay, here's another surprising thing: do y'all realize that Rhys Darby looks WAY WAY BETTER as Murray, with goatee, than he does just being Rhys Darby?

― nabisco, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 19:59 (seventeen years ago)

You think everyday Rhys Darby looks better than Murray, or you think this show doesn't make downtown NYC look kinda summery-glowy and picturesque?
― nabisco, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 20:09 (seventeen years ago)
he looks like the douche he is supposed to with the goatee. he looks like an alrite dude there. you are solid with the NYC observation.

― nabisco, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 20:13 (seventeen years ago)
well yeah, i guess he looks like 2 different kinds of douche there.

anybody seen that joint "testees" on fx thats basically conchords w/o the songs?? its dumb as fuck but i loled pretty hard when i caught 2 eps while drunk
― morbza the greek (and what), Wednesday, 17 December 2008 20:15 (seventeen years ago)
I saw the ep about the love potion that turned all the old ladies horny. It was kinda awful, but not as much as I had expected. Very clear FotC influence though, with a little Spaced thrown in. Felt very Canadian to me, is it?
