an episode came up in a youtube playlist while i was sorta bored youtube surfing this weekend!

Felix on the latest premium episode put into words exactly what I was feeling on Thursday:

The comments section for that fascism explainer is a trip. If you have no context re: chapo it's just a dude giving a pretty straight-faced lecture and all the comments are ppl shouting about beer and one dude going "i voted trump but might go leftist next time".

imo Red Scare is more of a comedy podcast than a political podcast. it's closer to Cum Town than Chapo, they talk about politics just as much and their (really just Anna's) political affiliation is contrarianism. Anna deliberately misinterprets events and contorts her takes accordingly, and then there'll be a pause and Dasha will offer a lukewarm "sure." it's schtick and obviously not for everyone. this is only to say that taking them at face value or seriously is just as much a waste of time as getting mad about a Cum Town bit. they (Anna) thrive off the negative attention on Twitter, if you don't like them just ignore them. most of the humor for me (and Dasha/Meg) is how stupid or insane Anna sounds sometimes.

The reading series are getting kind of exhausting too now unfortunately, way too much commentary and not enough reading the article. Having five people jumping all over a Rod Dreher piece really kills the fun.

I do a show with four hosts - it can work as long as you have someone conducting/moderating, which I think Will tries and mostly fails to do. Even less of an excuse for crosstalk since they usually record in the same room.
