still loling every time i think of the chipotle/aristotle joke

Ok so I read that post before seeing the episode, and I assumed the joke was that she thought Aristotle was pronounced like Chipotle, ie "Ari-stowt-lay". I was laughing about that all week.

I loved how they answered all the fan questions about what language Chidi speaks, and about his accent

I have a large number of other questions about everybody else's accents now though

Yeah I was cringeing a little at the accents but they werent as hideous as they could have been... couldnt they just have used Aus actors though?

(straight up, the only person I have EVER heard to a passable aus accent who isnt australian, is Paul Whitehouse).

The show’s idea of Australia is way less accurate than the America-themed restaurant is at depicting America

Until the Brexit etc jokes I was convinced that this had to be in purpose, and leading to a reveal that they’re not really on earth, and it’s a fake Australia that doesn’t make any sense for in-story reasons

Totally want Eleanor’s framed koala poster though

yeah netflix does that with hourlong premieres of half hour shows a lot

it's also a single unit on hulu

This week's one was much funnier IMO

Which is a relief as I'm not sure I could take it right now if this show started to suck

Four episodes in, they finally hire at least two, maybe three Australian accents to play Australians; they still don't bother to ask them what anything looks like or how anything works in Sydney.

(The barista selling lottery tickets [???!?!?!] was the first voice I perked up at: immediately after commenting that he sounded legit, the next new character onscreen was played by a guy I worked with at a bookshop 18 years ago [and went to see a play he was in once])

i have learned over time since moving to the US that it is definitely a HUGE hobbyhorse for
a) australians consuming american tv back home & b) new immigrants or temporary visitors from aus

*very* protective of our portrayal in the media
also: place names
