yeah escape room ep was not strong
― k3vin k., Friday, 21 September 2018 21:00 (seven years ago)
this season has been me thinking they just dont have it anymore
― Clay, Friday, 21 September 2018 22:53 (seven years ago)
The plane one had ambitions to do something clever, different and interesting I guess, mostly didn't come off at all though. Agreed Frank showing up in the toilet was the only real laugh.
― chap, Sunday, 23 September 2018 11:05 (seven years ago)
What was interesting, clever or different about an episode that not only was little more than a meta riff on a previous episode, but whose ostensible subject of satire - women-led gross out comedies - also seemed weirdly out of date? As was the women's march, which was (incredibly) almost two years ago. Even the call back to the waiter they torment fell flat. Like anyone gives a shit about that guy.
― Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 23 September 2018 15:32 (seven years ago)
Mac lifting Dee by the crotch was the biggest laugh of the season so far.
― chap, Friday, 28 September 2018 08:11 (seven years ago)
This episode was pretty funny/true to form. Even if the repeated gag of Frank coming back into the room on the phone was used maybe too much.
― Josh in Chicago, Friday, 28 September 2018 12:51 (seven years ago)
found it p boring myself. v formulaic with them acting like crazy assholes in front of stunned onlookers
― Οὖτις, Friday, 28 September 2018 15:24 (seven years ago)
Well, to be fair ...
― Josh in Chicago, Friday, 28 September 2018 15:27 (seven years ago)
Last night's seemed more promising than any of the other ones this season but then I fell asleep.
― Paul Reverse and the rediaRs (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 4 October 2018 19:16 (seven years ago)
it was p good. the bike stuff was entertaining, and the last scene was great.
― Οὖτις, Thursday, 4 October 2018 19:18 (seven years ago)
the fight was the hardest i've laughed this season for sure
― vote no on ilxit (Will M.), Thursday, 4 October 2018 19:41 (seven years ago)
yeah that was great. When they walked away initially I was like, wait Mac is ripped why doesn't he just pound the shit out of them
― Οὖτις, Thursday, 4 October 2018 19:48 (seven years ago)
Yeah it’s kinda late to be clutching norm-pearls
― I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Thursday, 4 October 2018 20:03 (seven years ago)
Lol wrong thread who cares, I’ve got nothing smart to say anyway
― I have measured out my life in coffee shop loyalty cards (silby), Thursday, 4 October 2018 20:04 (seven years ago)
only seen the premiere but really liked it, even if the show is not in top form it is comforting to see a serialized show that has went this long and still delivers some laughs
― montoya (Ross), Sunday, 7 October 2018 19:35 (seven years ago)
thought the time's up ep was the best of the season so far
― k3vin k., Sunday, 7 October 2018 21:35 (seven years ago)
This bike/car episode was hilarious, funny enough to be a season finale.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 10 October 2018 16:01 (seven years ago)
Best of the season so far but it has been noticeably worse than previous seasons
― imago, Wednesday, 10 October 2018 16:04 (seven years ago)
newest one was ehh
― k3vin k., Thursday, 11 October 2018 23:23 (seven years ago)
I liked it! Parrothead backdrop was funny
― Οὖτις, Monday, 15 October 2018 22:53 (seven years ago)
it's probably a bad sign that i totally missed the last one and didn't realize it until just now
― DEATH PUPPET (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 15 October 2018 23:31 (seven years ago)
lol what are they doing
i mean i didn't mind/quite liked this one but
― imago, Monday, 22 October 2018 21:04 (seven years ago)
Frank's long legs
― Οὖτις, Monday, 22 October 2018 21:17 (seven years ago)
Seinfeld sequence where Mac and Dennis were *both* Seinfeld
charlie watching charlie killed me (the two above parts too). best ep of the season so far imo
― vote no on ilxit (Will M.), Tuesday, 23 October 2018 17:28 (seven years ago)
so.... is there gonna be a third episode about what Dennis did during the superbowl?
― Οὖτις, Thursday, 1 November 2018 17:23 (seven years ago)
Luckily next week is the "Mac bares his torso in the gay pride parade" ep that is, tbh, the only one I've been anticipating this season.
― I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Thursday, 1 November 2018 18:05 (seven years ago)
I just started the new season and I didn't even recognize Dee in the second episode when she was standing next to the Escape Room person.
― Yerac, Tuesday, 6 November 2018 20:48 (seven years ago)
This season has been a rushed mess, but ... I did not see this finale coming. Not one bit.
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 8 November 2018 18:33 (seven years ago)
Yeah, that episode was everything I needed it to be.
― I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Friday, 9 November 2018 14:28 (seven years ago)
I didnt know what to make of that ending.
― Οὖτις, Friday, 9 November 2018 15:05 (seven years ago)
I kinda disagree. I found the season spotty but not much more than the last season or three, and had plenty of highlights for me.
but while I thought the dance sequence was amazing, I found the rest of the episode shockingly short on jokes. Just having Frank bleeding a lot didn't really do it for me.
― dan selzer, Friday, 9 November 2018 16:03 (seven years ago)
yeah it just wasn't funny. I kept thinking there was gonna be some joke at the end of the dance sequence that would tie it all together but... nope
― Οὖτις, Friday, 9 November 2018 16:07 (seven years ago)
the dance sequence reminded me of their dance routine at the high school reunion
Except that one did have a punchline where it turned out to be all in their head but actually terrible. This one did not. It actually reminded me a bit of the end of "Beau Travail!"
I did think the rest of the episode was terrible and even wondered if that was on purpose. A running gag of Frank sticking things up his nose to stop bleeding? Lame.
― Josh in Chicago, Friday, 9 November 2018 16:35 (seven years ago)
exactly
― Οὖτις, Friday, 9 November 2018 16:37 (seven years ago)
I'm basically in agreement with AV on this one. The tepid, meh-ness of the episode that led up to it, which set you up to expect another "lol they're not really killing George Michael choreography like they think they are" punchline, allowed Mac's earnest butterfly moment to soar on its own barely coherent terms.
I get why people wouldn't want that from this particular show. But, as a gay man who also has had a history of setting up self-sabotaging apparatuses to keep me from reaching self-actualization, it resonated like a tuning fork in my chest.
― I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Friday, 9 November 2018 16:38 (seven years ago)
yeah this is not a show that has ever trafficked in earnestness or genuine emotion so it was sort of jarring to see the sequence played (for lack of a better term lol) straight
― Οὖτις, Friday, 9 November 2018 16:42 (seven years ago)
That's categorically not true. Dee wheeling down the hospital corridor with her surrogate alone.
― I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Friday, 9 November 2018 16:59 (seven years ago)
Frankly, it's the only thing that kept me coming back after roughly season 5.
that seems like a bizarre reading of this show (and that sequence in particular as well) to me but whatever
― Οὖτις, Friday, 9 November 2018 18:18 (seven years ago)
You only get so much mileage/goodwill on the premise of "these are the worst people in the world!" in my book.
― I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Friday, 9 November 2018 18:35 (seven years ago)
there have always been some strangely touching musical moments in the show, even if they're often undercut with jokes (unlike this one). I thought the dance scene was moving and i'm glad they played it straight.
vulture had a great article about the preparation that went into that scene and Rob McElhenney's absurd commitment to his work: https://www.vulture.com/2018/11/its-always-sunny-mac-dance-season-13-finale.html

I guess I wasn't impressed with the dance sequence since I generally find modern dance totally ridiculous/boring but yknow ymmv
― Οὖτις, Friday, 9 November 2018 18:50 (seven years ago)
Sincerity is totally your thing tho.
― I Never Promised You A Hose Harden (Eric H.), Friday, 9 November 2018 18:51 (seven years ago)
haha um
― Οὖτις, Friday, 9 November 2018 18:56 (seven years ago)
The #metoo and prius episode the following week were awesome. I generally enjoyed the whole season even if it wasn’t laughs all the time.
#stillagoodshow

Just finished the clip show (loved). Hated the metoo and home alone episodes.
― Yerac, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 01:52 (seven years ago)
Mac no longer having tattoos has been distracting.
