he does sound pretty racist though

Οὖτις, Thursday, 20 September 2018 16:12 (seven years ago)

he is the most tortured, conflicted and miserable public figure i can think of

rip van wanko, Thursday, 20 September 2018 16:15 (seven years ago)

really

Οὖτις, Thursday, 20 September 2018 16:22 (seven years ago)

have you seen our president

Οὖτις, Thursday, 20 September 2018 16:22 (seven years ago)

he *should* be the most tortured, conflicted and miserable public figure but his ego won't allow it i think

rip van wanko, Thursday, 20 September 2018 16:24 (seven years ago)

There's a new documentary out on Gilda Radner called Love, Gilda, which I saw last night. Very nice, though it never really shows a full skit with her in it (I suppose anyone can go look those up) and focuses much more on her life and what drove the decisions she made (to go into comedy, to not return to SNL, to basically retire from acting all together). Chase shows up maybe twice to say nice things; was surprised at no Jane Curtin or Bill Murrary appearances though.

akm, Saturday, 22 September 2018 15:00 (seven years ago)

one thing I learned in it that I had no idea about: she was married to GE Smith???? (and left him for Gene Wilder)

akm, Saturday, 22 September 2018 15:01 (seven years ago)

(I suppose anyone can go look those up)

Not if the documentary ever screens or streams or is released outside the US.

Bitty Gingham Sheet (sic), Saturday, 22 September 2018 17:39 (seven years ago)

another show where they saved some of the funniest sketches for the second half. i don't know why they foisted that Fortnite thing on everyone as the first major sketch, it was awful. Driver as Pete Davidson's oil baron father, however, had me dying.

I think the less said about these kanye performances the best.

akm, Sunday, 30 September 2018 16:30 (seven years ago)

More folks are talking about the Kanye MAGA "I am not in the sunken place" rant that happened onstage after the show had just ended.

curmudgeon, Sunday, 30 September 2018 17:50 (seven years ago)

Oh kyle mooney, you still suck so bad.

Yerac, Monday, 1 October 2018 03:47 (seven years ago)

You’re nuts. I want Kyle and Beck Show.

DJI, Monday, 1 October 2018 06:12 (seven years ago)

Kyle still #1

JRN, Monday, 1 October 2018 06:42 (seven years ago)

This was pretty awesome:

DJI, Monday, 1 October 2018 17:51 (seven years ago)

adam driver carries that entire sketch on his shoulders but he's incredible

princess of hell (BradNelson), Monday, 1 October 2018 17:57 (seven years ago)

echoes of the Prospector Will Ferrell sketch, but that's never a bad thing

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Monday, 1 October 2018 18:02 (seven years ago)

yea Driver is so good in that

flappy bird, Monday, 1 October 2018 18:22 (seven years ago)

exactly, that was far and away the funniest part of the show. why did they stick it way in the back half? why did they subject us to some unfunny fortnite shit at the beginning? and I swear that Domenico's coffee sketch: didn't they do that last year or the year before, almost note for note?

akm, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 00:01 (seven years ago)

I shut this off before Kanye started blathering

akm, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 00:02 (seven years ago)

Pretty impressive of you not to watch something that wasn’t broadcast tbh

Ah, the minty egg bits (sic), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 00:10 (seven years ago)

sic burn

rip van wanko, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 02:12 (seven years ago)

did he not start blathering while it was running? that's what I heard. anyway don't give a fuck have a nice day

akm, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 16:42 (seven years ago)

^^^ cosign. Seriously don't care about his MAGA hat, his SNL appearance, or his entire career.

Freddy "Boom Boom" QAnon (Dan Peterson), Tuesday, 2 October 2018 17:00 (seven years ago)

some seriously hard men itt. i also got huge gus chiggins vibes from that oil baron sketch, especially with pete davidson in the jimmy fallon role of nearly breaking the entire time.

sovereignty flight, Tuesday, 2 October 2018 17:14 (seven years ago)

OK the "male supplement" ad was something that needed to happen

DEATH PUPPET (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Sunday, 14 October 2018 03:52 (seven years ago)

Loved this one

flappy bird, Sunday, 14 October 2018 05:30 (seven years ago)

That was good

Paul Simon just straight up sounding like the music in the NPR segments on Parks & Rec

DEATH PUPPET (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Sunday, 14 October 2018 07:14 (seven years ago)

Apparently the guy who thinks New Orleans accents are automatically hilarious still works at SNL but his partner who wrote the funny parts of Maine Justice doesn't

DEATH PUPPET (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Sunday, 14 October 2018 07:37 (seven years ago)

that sketch was terrible. as was most of this show. above posted sketch one of the few highlights.

akm, Monday, 15 October 2018 06:22 (seven years ago)

Pedant alert: that's a Cajun accent, not a New Orleans accent. And proving that humor is subjective, that was my favorite of the night. The sheer wtf-ness reminded me of the infamous potato chip sketch. MAGA biscuit!

Also a fan of Kenan's Treece Henderson Trio. Gucci shoes!

Overall thought this was stronger than many recent nights, although the bar has been set pretty low...

Freddy "Boom Boom" QAnon (Dan Peterson), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 15:21 (seven years ago)

that cajun sketch just made me miss jason sudeikis and maine justice

voodoo chili, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 15:32 (seven years ago)

treece henderson after the "trees" song kinda confused me because they sound the same but tbf i was very tired. also i laughed at both of those a lot so

vote no on ilxit (Will M.), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 16:53 (seven years ago)

the treece sketches are funny even if the're the same fucking joke all the time. at least it's not overdone.

akm, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 17:20 (seven years ago)

this season is pretty terrible so far :(

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 17:33 (seven years ago)

yessssss it is

rip van wanko, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 17:38 (seven years ago)

agree with that and this

that cajun sketch just made me miss jason sudeikis and maine justice

DEATH PUPPET (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 21:42 (seven years ago)

won't be surprised if both Mckinnon and Cecily Strong leave after this year

akm, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 22:08 (seven years ago)

there's a few talented people trying very hard with terrible material but i haven't found any recent material that's been posted funny. also i think cast members being unable to keep a straight face during sketches is definitely not inherently funny, keep it together and be a pro imo.

omar little, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 22:26 (seven years ago)

and Leslie Jones still can't read the cue cards

flappy bird, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 23:07 (seven years ago)

Yeah like Leslie Jones is a cool person but she's not been particularly strong as a cast member

If they lose Kenan, McKinnon and Strong after this year... good luck

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 October 2018 00:30 (seven years ago)

Kenan is like Don Pardo at this point, it's hard to imagine the show without him unless he dies

Scam jam, thank you ma’am (Sparkle Motion), Wednesday, 17 October 2018 00:31 (seven years ago)

I was just thinking she’s gotten a lot better.

I also thought last weeks was a pretty decent episode.

dan selzer, Wednesday, 17 October 2018 00:46 (seven years ago)

Also I have this belief that Melissa Villasenor is funny but no utilized properly but I have no proof of that

The white dudes except Pete and Kyle kind of blend together like a Tarem Killian king rat

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 October 2018 01:17 (seven years ago)

and Taram Killem was the funniest one, it's a bummer he was fired two years ago, still have no clue why.

― The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown)

you could say this about any year with a major cast exodus. Heidi Gardner is strong, this is only her second year. not caught up with any players they hired this year.

― Scam jam, thank you ma’am (Sparkle Motion)

tim meadows, chris parnell, darrell hammond (although he actually is don pardo now)

flappy bird, Wednesday, 17 October 2018 03:16 (seven years ago)

You *could* say that about any major cast exodus but often there's felt like a bunch of younger players ready to take the mantle

I think the bigger problem is the writer's room, it's terrible this year which makes ppl like Kenan or McKinnon who have a lot of charisma more vital

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 October 2018 12:37 (seven years ago)

If they lose Kenan, McKinnon and Strong after this year... good luck

and Aidy! I thought last year was her (and Cecily's) send-off, happy but confused to see them back!

and Taram Killem was the funniest one, it's a bummer he was fired two years ago, still have no clue why.

I thought it was because he went off to direct that movie (not a lorne production iirc) that was gonna make him basically unavailable for an entire season of SNL - and he already had 6 seasons -- most ppl stop at 7 or 8 right? so it figures they'd just cut him loose.

Heidi Gardner is strong, this is only her second year. not caught up with any players they hired this year.

Heidi Gardner is already great, Chris Redd has shown greatness, Ego Nwodim is the only new cast member so far this season and we basically have seen nothing of her but if she's as good on SNL as she has been on e.g. Comedy Bang Bang she'll do super well. Agreed that the writing is brutal tho. Remember when they only thing they couldn't write was an end for a sketch? At least the beginnings and middles were ok :(

vote no on ilxit (Will M.), Wednesday, 17 October 2018 14:53 (seven years ago)

I like Gardner a lot, and Redd has promise...Gardner is tending to shine on the news where you can tell she's kinda up there doing bits that she already had prior to SNL, getting around the writing problem

I guess I'm kinda coming around on Pete Davidson for some reason? Some of his news things are super awkward but they kinda work? I've thought he was pretty much useless and was just around so they had someone who could play teenage dudes in sketches

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 October 2018 15:08 (seven years ago)

also xpost forgot Aidy, she's always good

the Trump Brothers thing is pretty funny but they are overusing it

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 October 2018 15:09 (seven years ago)

Alec Baldwin's Trump is definitely one of the worst fucking abominations in the history of comedy

but I guess I feel like we deserve it

but yeah compared to Anthony Atamunuik, it's like yr fucking boss getting blitzed at the office Christmas party

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 October 2018 15:10 (seven years ago)
