Did character actress Margo Martindale voice Princess Caroline’s Mum?

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Monday, 17 September 2018 23:05 (seven years ago)

If i watch this will i be emotionally destroyed?

Trϵϵship, Monday, 17 September 2018 23:14 (seven years ago)

A plea to please hold off on too many big spoilers also, not all of us have the time luxury of bingeing a whole season in one day/week/weekend (fuckin Netflix). I'm only up to ep2 of new season so far!

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Monday, 17 September 2018 23:16 (seven years ago)

not really a spoiler - did this season have its customary single use of "fuck"? if so i missed it and will have to rewatch the whole thing to find it haha

imago, Monday, 17 September 2018 23:24 (seven years ago)

cosign, I'm on ep #4 I think

I did not catch the single-use gag!

sleeve, Monday, 17 September 2018 23:24 (seven years ago)

(that 1st part was xp)

sleeve, Monday, 17 September 2018 23:25 (seven years ago)

This is what about a single fuck?!

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 18 September 2018 04:09 (seven years ago)

Did character actress Margo Martindale voice Princess Caroline’s Mum?

That was David Sedaris!

Gina says it in ep 11.

Thermo, it's a thing that the word fuck only ever gets used once a season.

Season 1, Herb in ep 8.
Season 2, Charlotte in ep 11.
Season 3, Todd in ep 10
Season 4, Bojack in ep 4.

Bimlo Horsewagon became Wheelbarrow Horseflesh (aldo), Tuesday, 18 September 2018 05:50 (seven years ago)

ohhhhhhhhh of course. it had to be her, and now i think about it she says it when you'd more or less expect someone to

imago, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 06:28 (seven years ago)

the word 'cunt' has been used once ever in the show's entire history, albeit in a british accent

imago, Tuesday, 18 September 2018 06:31 (seven years ago)

That was David Sedaris!

I am v bad at recognising voices

American Fear of Pranksterism (Ed), Tuesday, 18 September 2018 09:08 (seven years ago)

OK now Ive seen ep 6 and people were not kidding about that being a gutpunch. And the last 10 seconds punchline, omg lol.

To follow that up with Emperor Fingerface and BoBo Zebra etc etc was a complete wtf.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Sunday, 23 September 2018 23:22 (seven years ago)

those two and the ensuing mr peanutbutter episode were my favourites of the series tbh

imago, Sunday, 23 September 2018 23:40 (seven years ago)

I liked the new season but I'm starting to feel like the writers/producers are expending a little too much energy anticipating/responding to viewer complaints and concerns. Feels like they're trying to cover every possibly problematic base at all times.

wayne trotsky (Simon H.), Sunday, 23 September 2018 23:40 (seven years ago)

maybe, although the todd (a)sex farce stuff was mostly quite funny i thought

imago, Sunday, 23 September 2018 23:42 (seven years ago)

That ep I found a bit OTT actually! Though I get a farce was exactly what they were aiming for. I mean they should have just added people yelling OOER MISSUS.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Sunday, 23 September 2018 23:45 (seven years ago)

this season spends too much time dealing with old issues e.g. the entire funeral bottle episode. best parts are "philbert" and gina.

adam the (abanana), Monday, 24 September 2018 03:54 (seven years ago)

I love that Gina is basically Rosa, esp when in the show's cop outfit (I dunno if its intentional though?)

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Monday, 24 September 2018 03:55 (seven years ago)

What concerns are they spending time on other than Vietnam?

Frederik B, Monday, 24 September 2018 06:59 (seven years ago)

There was a quote from Bob-Waksberg recently where he was talking about being horrified that Weinstein was a fan of the show, and honestly at least half the season feels like a reaction to that. Part of me wanted to reach out and be like "dude, you make a horse cartoon."

wayne trotsky (Simon H.), Monday, 24 September 2018 11:00 (seven years ago)

The Hank episode in...S2? was their Weinstein skewer, yeah, and they did harp on already-covered ground here

SPOILERS The climactic plotline (Bojack on drugs! Bojack mistreats a woman!) of this season didn't feel fresh at all

imago, Monday, 24 September 2018 11:08 (seven years ago)

I should stress that it was still funny/enjoyable/watchable but I feel like they should wrap it up soon.

wayne trotsky (Simon H.), Monday, 24 September 2018 11:11 (seven years ago)

ALSO, the punchline to the otherwise amazing Free Churro episode was too similar in feel to the punchline to the underwater episode. It's like guys you already did that. The episode should have ended straight

imago, Monday, 24 September 2018 11:11 (seven years ago)

I finished the season last night. My impression might be a little tainted by a convo with my son a week ago: "I think with season 4, they started focusing more on the drama and it wasn't as funny. I'm not saying they need to turn it into Family Guy but..."

how's life, Monday, 24 September 2018 11:13 (seven years ago)

parts of "Free Churro" were genuinely moving but tbh it was a bit....much overall

wayne trotsky (Simon H.), Monday, 24 September 2018 11:13 (seven years ago)

I thought S4 basically got the balance right

imago, Monday, 24 September 2018 11:16 (seven years ago)

I just feel that the 'Hollywoo' is a tarpit is so central to what the show is that it makes sense they go back to #MeToo plotlines over and over.

To me it's more getting a bit stale because BoJack is constantly backsliding. Which is plausible, but it got stale on The Sopranos, and on Mad Men, and I'm not sure I can do too many more penultimate episodes where BoJack hits a new low.

Frederik B, Monday, 24 September 2018 11:41 (seven years ago)

This was the first one where it felt like formula. 11th episode of S4 was different and extraordinary

imago, Monday, 24 September 2018 11:47 (seven years ago)

Yeah, exactly. But 1, 2, 3 and 5 are kinda alike...

Frederik B, Monday, 24 September 2018 12:26 (seven years ago)

everyone basically articulating my problems with this season ("oh no bojack did *another* unforgivably horrible thing???") even though it was still great

princess of hell (BradNelson), Monday, 24 September 2018 12:35 (seven years ago)

The 11th episodes of 1,2,3 built to a tragic crescendo tbh, I wouldn't change any of them

imago, Monday, 24 September 2018 12:43 (seven years ago)

The Hank episode in...S2? was their Weinstein skewer, yeah, and they did harp on already-covered ground here

this episode came out in 2015, two years before the Weinstein scandal surfaced. I took it as a Cosby reference at the time (and I think the episode itself mentioned allegations against Letterman)

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Monday, 24 September 2018 14:51 (seven years ago)

you think insiders didn't know though

imago, Monday, 24 September 2018 14:54 (seven years ago)

30 Rock etc were making Weinstein jokes for years iirc? I'm sure we've been over this somewhere.

wayne trotsky (Simon H.), Monday, 24 September 2018 14:57 (seven years ago)

their character of Uncle Hankie was specifically a beloved entertainment figure, which Weinstein never was.

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Monday, 24 September 2018 15:04 (seven years ago)

influential and incredibly powerful obviously, but it's a slightly different situation

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Monday, 24 September 2018 15:04 (seven years ago)

Fine. Well there wasn't really a Weinstein figure here. I really liked the pathetic character of Flip though (and even more so Flippy for half a glorious episode) - a sort of man equally worth taking down

imago, Monday, 24 September 2018 15:10 (seven years ago)

I liked Flip as a character but I found Rami Malek's voice kinda distracting

wayne trotsky (Simon H.), Monday, 24 September 2018 15:12 (seven years ago)

David Sedaris as Amy Sedaris' mom was beautiful.

We had to go back and figure out where that taped confession came from (s3ep1). That's a lot of plot to keep track of (for a horse cartoon)!

change display name (Jordan), Monday, 24 September 2018 15:28 (seven years ago)

idk, i don't like the "just a horse cartoon" angle. the show is as thoughtful and smart as anything else on tv, and "horse cartoon" is just the lens the show uses to explore the human condition.

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Monday, 24 September 2018 16:00 (seven years ago)

no shit, really????

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Monday, 24 September 2018 16:24 (seven years ago)

Obviously it can be anything it would ants but there's thoughtful and then there's ponderous

wayne trotsky (Simon H.), Monday, 24 September 2018 17:24 (seven years ago)

The ants were in S4

imago, Monday, 24 September 2018 18:30 (seven years ago)

lol

wayne trotsky (Simon H.), Monday, 24 September 2018 18:34 (seven years ago)

lol sorry for the double gif, it posted as a question mark image the first time round

nba jungboy (voodoo chili), Monday, 24 September 2018 18:35 (seven years ago)

Overall enjoyable season. Not as quite as good as previous, but The Amelia Earhart Story and Free Churro were the high points for me.
