It is an unofficial Potter emporium selling officially licensed Potter product (and a smattering of non-Potter tat).

Cant believe one book/film series can support a whole shop. We'll see how long it lasts.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Sunday, 2 September 2018 19:12 (seven years ago)

It's supporting (at least) two in Edinburgh!

Andrew Farrell, Sunday, 2 September 2018 19:14 (seven years ago)

one month passes...

my house is currently up for sale, and i had a classic 'glasgow is a v small place' interaction last night when duglas and chloe from bmx bandits turned up to view it

(any ilxors wanna buy a charming 3-bed southside house btw, let me know)

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 9 October 2018 09:18 (seven years ago)

pfft like i could afford a three-bed house in shawlands! drumoyne, just round the corner from ibrox

Burt Bacharachman-Turner Overdrive Like Jehuman League (bizarro gazzara), Tuesday, 9 October 2018 09:28 (seven years ago)

I think I found it, looks like a really cool house. Do you know when it dates from?

brain (krakow), Tuesday, 9 October 2018 09:38 (seven years ago)

telecaster in the front room, hardwood floor? if so that's ours, yeah. dates from about 1890 or so - i think it was an old shipbuilder's house

gonna miss it tbh, it's been a great home but we just need more space now we have a baby

Burt Bacharachman-Turner Overdrive Like Jehuman League (bizarro gazzara), Tuesday, 9 October 2018 09:42 (seven years ago)

Yep, that's the one I was thinking. Looks lovely, really interesting. I guess it'll be a popular sell as it's quite unusual? How's the search for a new place going?

brain (krakow), Tuesday, 9 October 2018 10:27 (seven years ago)

we've been really surprised by how much interest we've had - it went on the market on thursday last week and we ended up with 17 viewing requests by saturday. we're probably going to be going to a closing date on friday this week *gulp*

we've got our eye on a place in cambuslang whose current owners turned down our first offer because we hadn't sold ours. off to see it again on saturday, hopefully with a sold house as a negotiating too

Burt Bacharachman-Turner Overdrive Like Jehuman League (bizarro gazzara), Tuesday, 9 October 2018 10:42 (seven years ago)

negotiating tool that is

Burt Bacharachman-Turner Overdrive Like Jehuman League (bizarro gazzara), Tuesday, 9 October 2018 10:43 (seven years ago)

Ooh, nice house. Always love those when I drive past them. Would like (would also be exceptionally handy for work). Not really in a position to sell and move though, just idly dreaming.

ailsa, Tuesday, 9 October 2018 13:28 (seven years ago)

Three beds and you need more space? God I miss Glasgow sometimes

stet, Tuesday, 9 October 2018 13:44 (seven years ago)

come back and buy our house imo

Burt Bacharachman-Turner Overdrive Like Jehuman League (bizarro gazzara), Tuesday, 9 October 2018 14:19 (seven years ago)

cheers ailsa!

Clubs can now stay open until 4am! It's about goddamn time

paolo, Wednesday, 7 November 2018 17:36 (seven years ago)

I've only been clubbing about five times this year but still, it's the principle of the thing

The Manchester clubs open to 6am on occasion has been a revelation since I moved down here. Only a good thing.

I like Poeltls (fionnland), Wednesday, 7 November 2018 21:29 (seven years ago)

you don't realise how huge an impact it makes, finding yourself looking for a place to go at finishing time to carry on drinking and dancing only ends in disaster. I'd be more inclined to head home at 5/6am after clubbing all night, whereas if I'm out at 3am I'm easily tempted to head off to an afters and stay up til the next lunchtime

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 7 November 2018 22:45 (seven years ago)

I love that this thread is always resurrected.

one can always try just a little bit more glasgow ime

( ͡☉ ͜ʖ ͡☉) (jim in vancouver), Wednesday, 7 November 2018 22:57 (seven years ago)

the trick is to be the most mwi there

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 7 November 2018 23:09 (seven years ago)

I was talking to Twitch about this and non Glasgow and esp non U.K. people are always amazed by the Glasgow after party scenario.

the glasgow afterparty-at-a-flat scenario is taken for granted as an expected waypoint in the evening ime. and also ime it gets very Real very quickly

We do! I haven't been out much lately cos I just haven't seen that many nights that I'm interested in. Was at the Numbers thing at the art school last week and that was disappointing. I'm tempted by Objekt next week and Gesloten Cirkel later in the month though

paolo, Thursday, 8 November 2018 19:58 (seven years ago)

How's things with you anyway?

paolo, Thursday, 8 November 2018 19:58 (seven years ago)

('you' being boxedjoy)

paolo, Thursday, 8 November 2018 19:59 (seven years ago)

Why was the numbers thing disappointing?

brokenshire (jed_), Thursday, 8 November 2018 21:21 (seven years ago)

Just wasn't really feeling any of the DJs/live acts really. Perko was the first DJ on in the Vic Bar and was a competent enough warmer upper but nothing special. I've heard a few Klein tunes and been into them so was looking forward to her live set, it was OK but would have been better as home listening.

I know Batu's been making a bit of a name for himself recently but again his DJ set was OK but nothing special. Giant Swan and Helena Hauff banged out a bunch of big room industrial/acid techno, maybe I just wasn't in the mood but not really feeling it. Also it was crowded as fuck (only to be expected for a Numbers night really) and the fire alarm went off for about ten minutes early in the night so we all just stood around with the music off. Meh

paolo, Friday, 9 November 2018 09:36 (seven years ago)

God I sound like a moany old bastard. I'm not even that old :)

paolo, Friday, 9 November 2018 09:37 (seven years ago)

Spencer is still the name I get most excited about seeing on a Numbers flyer these days

boxedjoy, Friday, 9 November 2018 10:39 (seven years ago)

when is Gesloten Cirkel? my pal Natalie is obsessed

boxedjoy, Friday, 9 November 2018 10:40 (seven years ago)

Saturday 1st December at La Cheetah, you want to go? I'm a wee bit obsessed myself. Submit X is one of the best techno albums in I don't know how long

Great song - love the RM Hubbert / Aidan Moffat album too.

Fun fact - that’s my friend Chris in that video.

Aye, the new one is excellent. Excited to see them play in December.

I didn't really know him well or anything but I always had some affection.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Sunday, 25 November 2018 03:53 (seven years ago)

you're gonna have to colour me out from Gesloten Cirkel now, I have work all weekend and it's looking like a challenging weekend in work, the kind that doesn't lend itself to drinking and dancing til 3am :(

I'm really glad the CCA is open again - I was in on Saturday night for a bit and it's good to have somewhere in a weekend that isn't a struggle to get a seat in

boxedjoy, Tuesday, 27 November 2018 10:15 (seven years ago)

Ah boo, hope your weekend goes OK, we should definitely catch up sometime. Good to hear the CCA's open again
