1. Today at lunchtime, sat next to Roger Taylor of Queen at the Manhattan bistro Lucien, 1st Ave. and 1st St. (Queen are playing tonight and tomorrow at Madison Square Garden).

2. Have been sitting on this one a while, but back in April I had a table next to Salman Rushdie, Paul Auster, and Siri Hustvedt at a restaurant in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Re #2 - I once had a table next to Paul Auster at a restaurant in Park Slope as well. It was about ten years ago, though. He was being interviewed and was being kind of a pompous dick to the interviewer, though in fairness to him the interviewer was clearly an idiot.

Might be the same restaurant. I think he's lived in the neighborhood for many years.

No, sadly the place where I saw him closed a long time ago. It was called Sweet Melissa, and it was a sort of upscale bakery/cafe that did lunches.
