That's a subject for another thread but boy criticizing other's people diet is never a good look. I can't stand it when people do it to me. It's the kind of shit the Jordan Petersons of this world pulls on other innocent people who would just like to eat whatever they want, I won't play that game.

Soy isnt great for you tbf. Vegetables are—you need to war vegetables to be optimally healthy this is like the only health consensus.

Inuits traditionally do fine eating little to no vegetables, although the range of animal protein they eat is far different from what non-Inuits can access

inuits traditionally gather and eat as much plant matter as they possibly can and only don't have a culture of growing plants because their environment doesn't allow for cultivation

How much can they gather in the winter though? I don't know, but I'm guessing it's pretty minimal?

some plants can be gathered in winter, including some berries which are found through digging in the snow. inuit also use preservation, drying, and fermentation. storing plants and meat for the winter in seal fat or inside a dried seal etc.

their diet was still hugely meat-based obviously. they ate more of a range of meat than mr peterson though obv - fish, caribou, seals

(sorry for using the past-tense, referring to the traditional diet which has been impacted by modernity, climate change, etc.)

It’s fine to avoid soy, other legumes, grains, sugar and alcohol if you want. Eating only meat though is not fine.

It’s also fine to be a vegan and eat tons of soy. Any diet that is not like based on active self harm is fine. Standard american diet probably not fine

If you don’t exercise, eating a lot of meat can probably cause digestive problems and bowel problems, which can cause illnesses

I guess if you have a good digestive system and eat the right amount of meat and don’t move much it might work, but I’m doubtful

Red meat is difficult to digest on its own, without the aide of exercising and/or fibre

But i do believe different types of bodies call for different types of diets, so a vegetarian diet can actually be harmful to someone but beneficial to another

Interestingly, I've just finished reading "The Authoritarian Personality" so I know that, according to its findings, this is a trait very often displayed by those psychiatric patients who have fascistic tendencies.

OTM. The Petersons are half-assing this shit.

To use an expression that might not be acceptable anymore, he sounds like an unhinged lunatic in that interview. Food sensitivies can certainly affect mood but they cant, alone, trigger an episode like what he describes.

To be fair to him, i’ve had depressive episodes where i had very poor quality and intermittent sleep and this lasted for weeks. I can kind of grasp the kind of thing he is taking about but it just can’t have been the cider, unless the cider made him feel like the “order” of his system became unbalanced, but that is a psychological response
