mods used to be way more obvious, but a) ILX is less rambunctious now and b) it was realised about ten years ago that modding quietly caused fewer shitstorms re: modding

out-and-out trolls do get removed by mod action

a bunch of FPs on one post will also raise mod attention & discussion, it's not a fully automated SB system

if ppl want a post edited or deleted, MRF is still there and used regularly, and has been for about 16 years

as deems keeps saying, this has been litigated in literally thousands of posts over the last decade

I’ve reread my own posts a day later and thought “wow, that guy seems like an anxious mess who doesn’t need to be litigating a vague nothing on the internet” and flagged my own post.

I mean, sometimes it’s people being outright dicks or doing ban-worthy things like outright racism and misogyny. Other times, it’s recognizing that someone’s kind of messed up right now and could use a break

like when the bartender at your local cuts you off after two beers and says “hey buddy, I don’t think you need another drink, why not go home and get some rest”
not too many of those bartenders out there but it’s nice when it happens
