posting this is almost certainly a bad idea but i was going to post some variation on at it some point and i might as well do so now.

ten years or so ago i was a unitarian, and as a hippie-new-age church they had a section in the middle of the service where any member of the congregation could go up to the podium and talk about important things that were going on in their life.

there was one lady there, an absolutely sweet and wonderful lady. and she had a lot of problems. every week she would get up there for ten minutes and tell us about them. of course we all sympathized with her and wanted the best for her but, you know, i wouldn't dream of getting up there and talking about things that were happening to me, even if they seemed important. once my dog died and i got up there and said, literally, "my dog died" and sat back down. that was it. because as much as we all sympathized with her we were also, collectively, spending a lot of time and energy carrying her burdens, and while i was theoretically ok with that, i didn't really want to burden anybody else like that.

eventually a new pastor came in and got rid of that section and we never saw that lady again. i hope she's doing ok.

Normally I am in favour of suggesting that people in stories are secretly the teller, but in this case have you considered that yourself and the lady are actually: different people

xpost A terrible place in general, yes probably, but there are dedicated threads which are treated as safe spaces and can be genuinely helpful.

This, notably, is not one of those threads.

Is all of this happening on the secret messageboard because there is a lot of peoples' reactions here that is confusing.

Also, I don't recall bullying on this website really. People seem a lot more aggro now. Except I know some of us used to follow orbit around saying "twoooooo weeks" after her posts and I think that scared her.
