i watched like 5 episodes during spring break (or winter break? i forgot) and then binged the rest of the episodes over the last week. holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiitt i love this show. comedy highs are todd and mr peanutbutter on terrible idea development jags ("what if there was a WEST dakota?" "i dunno, isn't that up to the state department?"

i have a strained relationship with my mom PLUS my grandma (and greatgrandma) spent their final years with dementia, guess which episode fucked me upppppppppp

I don't know how it makes fun of True Detective or Mad Men. I only recognize the "detective chasing himself" from Donald Kaufman's script in Adaptation.

Not making fun of the shows themselves per se - the attitude feels copped from Pizzolatto's TD S1-era interviews and photo spreads, and every season of MM would be preceded by Weiner sending a letter to publications telling them what they "weren't allowed" to spoil (eg the date range of the new episodes, etc). Which was, AFAIK, pretty specifically his deal

Yes. Watched the first ep at lunch. Good start.

Watched the first two. Very strong start, the second in particular is one of the best first half eps thus far (he says knowing he's forgotten some better and knows underwater was ep 3 or something).

looking fwd to watching this weekend

watched the first 4 (nearly 5 but tt fell asleep) - it's brilliant of course

the last two seasons have had amazing early episodes. S4 E2 was jawdropping

Episode 6 is amazing.

Yeah I was totally wrong about other early episodes. Even just episode 2s - Neil McBeal The Navy Seal, Todd builds Disneyland, Mr Peanutbutter meets Blarn, hut on the lake.

todd builds disneyland is still one of the funniest things ive ever seen. todd is my favorite.

Yes. Parts of it were really great - and once we lift the embargo we can talk about what they were - it never managed to hit the absolute highs of previous seasons and didn't have that real standout moment.

i think it would be ok to observe that the best episodes of this one were towards the middle of the season

Ep5 was great. Another in the series of Princess Carolyn emotional gut punches.
