frogbs, Tuesday, 19 June 2018 14:52 (eight years ago)

I'd expect media outlets to now be scrambling over one another now in an effort to get taped interviews of Miller in a country with a functioning fourth estate, but oh well, I guess.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions rejected claims that the Justice Department’s new zero-tolerance immigration policy echoed Nazi Germany because concentration camps “were trying to keep Jews from leaving.” Sessions spoke with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Monday and defended his agency amid a growing outcry over family separations at the U.S.-Mexico border under the new DOJ policy.

“Well, it’s a real exaggeration, of course. In Nazi Germany, they were keeping the Jews from leaving the country,” Sessions said. “We need to think it through, be rational and thoughtful about it. We want to allow asylum for people who qualify for it, but people who want economic migration for their personal financial benefit, and what they think is their families’ benefit, is not a basis for a claim of asylum.”

omitted here is the nazis tried to deport the jews before exterminating them. the US didn't do them any favors by refusing to accept them.

about that "the difference is the Nazis wouldn't let 'em leave thing"

They have detained this pregnant Honduran woman for 6 weeks while her 5 y/o son is being held in a separate detention center.

She has just been asking that they go ahead and deport she and her son so they can go home and be together.

They refuse.https://t.co/XYmpETDwgk pic.twitter.com/GQkNcmPj28

god damn i am just seething with hatred for trump and his entire administration. moreso than usual. them mouthing their hateful disingenuous talking points. all this suffering and trauma and child abuse, at their orders, and they just keep talking about how "the democrats" want "open borders" and then spouting this fascists dehumanizing shit on top of that. fucking christ i hate them.

noel gallaghah's high flying burbbhrbhbbhbburbbb (Doctor Casino), Tuesday, 19 June 2018 16:45 (eight years ago)

It's been a slow burn, but this administration finally seems to be stretching its limbs and showing us that they can actually be just as awful and destructive as we feared. If the Dems don't completely clean up in November, I might have to officially be done with this shit.

Can't tell if that's a joke or not.
Also not sure what difference in price between the 2 sides of the border would be.

Sounds like , somebody buys something, uses it and tehn takes it home with them. Which is of course a crime since all Canucks are libtards innit?

jmm, Tuesday, 19 June 2018 17:07 (eight years ago)

the use of the word "infest" (and "animals", recently) must really warm the hearts of his neo-nazi supporters. the president says that immigrants are infesting the nation and his top advisors advocate putting their kids in cages even after the rest of the world and most of his own citizens react in horror. neo-nazis don't have to read between the lines or look for little cues from trump anymore, they're out in pure daylight, unapologetically.

sorry, got a little nihilistic there but that is the world we live in

I find myself obsessively running thought experiments of what the president could say about immigrants that would be a breaking point, and and feeling panic that the answer is: nothing.

The stuff about migrants to Europe 'violently changing the culture' of the nations who take them in is unadulterated neo-Nazism.

Now that is what I'm talking about. If the economy/stock market remain relatively hale, I honestly feel like elections this year and even in 2020 could be a total toss-up because too many (incredibly fucking dumb) people will be hesitant about rocking the boat however plainly batshit the captain may be. So bring it on imo.

Gladys McFlatus (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 19 June 2018 17:43 (eight years ago)

so much enraging shit happening but that Canadians buying shoes comment is really aggravating/revealing: you don't pay customs to the US on goods you buy there when you exit, you pay customs to Canada on goods you bring in from outside when you return. So he's pissed that Canadians are spending money in the US (plus sales tax) and then lying to their own govt about it to avoid paying duty tax.

just digesting trump's latest encyclical

- immigrants are criminals who are a danger to the countries they travel to
- in fact they are like insects
- democrats are encouraging these criminal insects to cross the border and infest America because they will end up voting democrat in elections and democrats know this
- i.e. democrats are actively encouraging crime and immigrant infestation for their own political gain

just want to make sure I've got that straight
