BREAKING: Republicans are floating a draft bill that would end family separations as the U.S. plans to reopen a tent shelter to house migrant children.

A draft text of the Republicans’ bill also calls for visas for young undocumented immigrants known as “dreamers” as well as billions in funding for President Trump’s border wall. Conservatives and moderates are reserving judgment on the legislation ahead of expected votes next week.

does it matter that no Dems will vote for it? Probably, considering Ryan is now a lame duck speaker and the caucus is very divisively split over immigration. Freedom Caucus members are already complaining about the "compromise" bill (although they are at least getting their vote on the Goodlatte bill - which the GOP "moderates" and Dems both hate and will never pass)

also this "compromise" bill is basically what got killed in the Senate earlier (minus this provision about families being separated, which was not policy back during the Senate debate) - in fact, this very framework was what Trump wanted most, and it got the fewest votes of the options that were put up by McConnell.

so basically this has next to no chance of becoming law, but it is notable because it *does* have the chance to expose deep divisions in the GOP caucus ahead of the elections and make various members' more vulnerable
