Oh see, I haven’t been trying to make sense of stuff for at least 1.6 episodes

El Tomboto, Monday, 4 June 2018 10:28 (eight years ago)

there’s some sort of glowing protomolecule residue they missed growing in the cargo part of the ship right? pretty sure it’s acting as an antenna to beam Miller into Holden’s head

mh, Monday, 4 June 2018 12:56 (eight years ago)

doesn't look like is growing, so much as just chilling out.

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 4 June 2018 15:03 (eight years ago)

I kind o wish that I hadn't read the books, because I did not get any suspense from this last episode.

there’s some sort of glowing protomolecule residue they missed growing in the cargo part of the ship right?

Yes, there was a shot some episodes back of a protomolecule glob in an inconspicuous part of the Roci.

Martin Landau Ballet (Leee), Monday, 4 June 2018 17:33 (eight years ago)

I've read all the books and still got massive goosebumps watching it

groovypanda, Monday, 4 June 2018 20:28 (eight years ago)

Rolling so many danged eyes at Expanse dingbats lauding the show for not forcing diversity on its viewers.

Martin Landau Ballet (Leee), Wednesday, 6 June 2018 23:23 (eight years ago)

smh, nerds are the worst fans.

they call me melo gelo (Spottie), Wednesday, 6 June 2018 23:47 (eight years ago)

Still not entirely enthused with this season, but I really liked Drummer's speech!

Martin Landau Ballet (Leee), Monday, 11 June 2018 20:02 (seven years ago)

I've actually been enjoying the ring business more than the first half of the season, it's felt like a fresh direction. I'm partial to a Big Dumb Object in my sci-fi.

chap, Tuesday, 12 June 2018 08:02 (seven years ago)

yeah it feels like proper old-skool SF now

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Tuesday, 12 June 2018 08:11 (seven years ago)

The hell was all that?!

Mad Piratical (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 15 June 2018 01:12 (seven years ago)

holden has been given THE KNOWLEDGE maybe

mh, Friday, 15 June 2018 02:58 (seven years ago)

Was that our sun being proto-moleculed?

chap, Friday, 15 June 2018 07:42 (seven years ago)

Book spoiler: In this scene Holden gets a God's eye view of the Protocreators' civilization, and its "immune response" to an infection that presented an existential threat. The Core often amputated to prevent the spread of this gangrene, by initiating supernovae in infected systems.

Chaos reigns... in my pants (Sanpaku), Friday, 15 June 2018 14:29 (seven years ago)

No more book spoilers on this thread please.

chap, Friday, 15 June 2018 15:05 (seven years ago)

Doesn't seem to work as that's about the 10th they've posted (after being asked not too)

groovypanda, Friday, 15 June 2018 16:22 (seven years ago)

Double episode finale next week!

groovypanda, Friday, 22 June 2018 09:15 (seven years ago)

No book spoilers from me, but I will say it’s almost like a new series now with the way things are going on the behemoth.

Jeff, Friday, 22 June 2018 10:31 (seven years ago)

It's been a while since I read the books but I thought majority of plot beats this week were pretty much identical to the books.

Shame we've had no Avasarala the last few weeks

groovypanda, Friday, 22 June 2018 15:48 (seven years ago)

Taking over here: The Expanse novel series thread WARNING TV SPOILERS

Jeff, Friday, 22 June 2018 17:26 (seven years ago)

"if this is another one of your 'teaching moments' i'd prefer to bleed out in silence"

I agree. Definitely curious to see how that develops.

Martin Landau Ballet (Leee), Friday, 22 June 2018 21:33 (seven years ago)

holy shit @ this episode

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 22 June 2018 21:36 (seven years ago)

Great finale. Looks like the storyline will go some majorly different places next season.

chap, Monday, 2 July 2018 22:09 (seven years ago)

Legit impressed with the ending. Missed Avasarala. Looking forward to new network, new season, and total refocus of the show.

Elvis Telecom, Monday, 2 July 2018 22:21 (seven years ago)

Naren Shankar seems especially happy to be freed from the "no nudity" constraint. So its going to be Holden's ass, all the time.

Roomba with an attitude (Sanpaku), Tuesday, 3 July 2018 00:20 (seven years ago)

one month passes...

Just about to finish S1, and loving this so far. Whoever was responsible for casting picked a bunch of people with really interesting faces to watch.

Mince Pramthwart (James Morrison), Friday, 31 August 2018 02:29 (seven years ago)

Ha, I just noticed you’re the second post on the thread. Congratulations, one of us, etc!

Paleo Weltschmerz (El Tomboto), Friday, 31 August 2018 11:03 (seven years ago)

Finally got around to it when I saw it was vanishing from Netflix at the end of September, I guess because of Amazon taking over. Just got to tne end of S1 tonight, and holy crap.

Mince Pramthwart (James Morrison), Friday, 31 August 2018 12:40 (seven years ago)

:D

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 31 August 2018 13:08 (seven years ago)

randomly caught a tweet thread of a guy breaking down episodes and the sets and production design, and on one of the screens on the Roci, you can just make out that its drones are named "Peart", "Lee", and "Lifeson"

sous les paves, Tuesday, 4 September 2018 20:20 (seven years ago)

Alex's screen seems to indicate that the ship has three little drones like this, and that they're named "Pearl", "Lee", and "Lifeson". Pearl seems to be the one he's using. #TheExpanse #SomeThingsINoticed pic.twitter.com/6Rt1r87AFQ

Up to 2.5, ie the one that ends with something hitting Venus. Only just realised that the screenwriters are the guy who wrote the books, so to speak.

Mince Pramthwart (James Morrison), Wednesday, 5 September 2018 01:39 (seven years ago)

two weeks pass...

And now just ended 3.7, the one iwht this startling conclusion:

Very much enjoying this show.

Mince Pramthwart (James Morrison), Wednesday, 19 September 2018 05:55 (seven years ago)

what an image!! i still haven't seen any of 3 and i love how gross/significant-seeming/non-spoily that is at the same time

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 18:03 (seven years ago)

I don't want to spoil for anyone, but it's grand.

Mince Pramthwart (James Morrison), Wednesday, 19 September 2018 21:46 (seven years ago)

I couldn't make it through the initial exposition-dump in the first 10 minutes of the first episode

I hate sci-fi exposition

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 21:54 (seven years ago)

Just make it through the first 2-3 episodes and I promise you'll get into it.

DJI, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 22:00 (seven years ago)

I think you'd like it by the middle of the first season,, Shakey. I didn't like the first few eps either, but it does pick up.

remy bean, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 22:05 (seven years ago)

Yeah. Me and my wife gave up after the first ep. I went back and ended up getting hooked. I finally convinced her to give it another shot and she binged 2 seasons in like one week.

DJI, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 22:09 (seven years ago)

m/l the same to all this

Machine Gunk Jelly (Spottie), Wednesday, 19 September 2018 22:10 (seven years ago)

m/l? Is that "much love?"

DJI, Wednesday, 19 September 2018 22:11 (seven years ago)

more or less

Machine Gunk Jelly (Spottie), Wednesday, 19 September 2018 22:31 (seven years ago)

there is a point early in the 1st season where it Gets Real and it never really lets up after that

I've watched the first season and read the first book, and dug them both. But should I carry on with the books or the show???

Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 25 September 2018 21:12 (seven years ago)

FWIW, I watched the show first. Started in on the books but bailed out somewhere in book 2 - I'm super-snobby about my SF so that was not unexpected.

Elvis Telecom, Wednesday, 26 September 2018 06:48 (seven years ago)

I kind of feel that having read the books ruined this last season for me.
