making stove top espresso americanos with a slightly sub-3w light roast (yuppie grocery store brand) lately and it looks like it’s breaking all the rules on paper but tastes so good

in Seattle, all espresso shots are doubles at essentially every coffee shop, maybe not Starbucks. I know this isn't true everywhere, having been asked if I want a single or a double a couple times on the east coast since I started drinking coffee. What's everybody else's town like, as regards double shots?

double shot is standard in London for espresso-based drinks

In my experience, in NYC, some places ask, most don't. Bluestone Lane usually asks, if the person behind the counter knows what they're doing.

Most places, doubles. At Bluestone, if they forget to ask, I think its usually singles. This is for just an espresso. For the espresso mixed drinks I think it's almost always doubles.

This would be a good opening if you wanted to hit on a barista

Coffee dad version: too much coffee

i have been drinking too much cof. saturday i drank 3 big cups at breakfast. i was still able to nap an hour later. today i just had one cup (half my normal morning dose) because i was running late and didn't want to make new cof. the result was a stupid, foggy, idiot morning.

Back in Australia, I’ve hadn’t some bad coffee in foreign parts. I forget that Australia and Italy aside it’s not normal to be able to get half decent espresso drinks on every street corner.

Most espresso drinks are double shot here. I tend to ask for an extra shot or 3/4 milk in my cappuccino so that I can actually taste the coffee. Too often a cappuccino is just a latte macchiato with chocolate sprinkles.

In Japan it was interesting that a lot of espresso places didn’t do a cappuccino only a latte which probably bows to the reality that the cappuccino has become a latte with chocolate powder on the top.

any third-wave coffee place I've been to in north america does a traditional cappuccino, no powder of any type on top.

Making fridge cold brew all summer long by the gallon and I don't know if I can ever go back to hot cof tbh.

Great news guys, it was the medication I was taking, not the coffee (which needless to say is much easier to change). It was kicking in about 30 min after taking the meds, which 99% of the time coincided with drinking my first cup of the day, lol. It took going on vacation and switching up my schedule to really be sure.

Coming back to coffee after weeks of only tea was truly a special feeling, let me tell you.

i always drink decaf now because of anxiety issues, drank a regular cappuccino yesterday afternoon because it was sunday and i was ultra relaxed and i ended up so f'ing wired for like 5 or 6 hours

i truly enjoy chilled coffee drinks more than hot but when it's cold out i can't really do it

I think the barista made me a regular cappuccino instead of a cbd cappuccino this afternoon because it was half price...if cbd tolerance is a thing than I may have become accustomed to the 5mg content. I was trying to have a calm moment but there was a dude across the street yelling at me to see if I had a lighter (I did but I I told him I didn’t) and he was eating what looked to be stolen shake shack stuff and had his bike upturned on the sidewalk. Meanwhile the barista was saying “have a nice weekend” to people (it’s Monday) so who knows
